In reply to Malcolm:
Thanks for your reply.
At Burlington, train standby channel is 161.415 which seems to
cover a lot of territory.
160.365 is car control for Aldershot and Oakville which can be
used for work in Aldershot yard. This is Channel 5.
If a train is going to be working in the yard for an period of
time they go to Channel 7, 159.810.
If there is multiple activity in the yard, then someone will go
to channel 17, 160.695.
Trackside Guide Section 12 lists frequencies but it is difficult to
?figure out the areas some are used in.
Hamilton Yard has their own frequency?161.385, channel 40.
Then there are the M of W channels and Engineering channels.
Guess I'm just going to have to enter more frequencies and
see if some give me the chatter I want.

Trackside Guide Page 12-2 has the general CN frequencies which they sometimes use, I hear RTC asking people to use channel 5 etc quite frequently particularly if they are going to be tying a channel up for some time.

Yesterday I was visiting family in Climax MI. It's the first town west of Battle Creek on the former GT line to Chicago.
?
While walking the dog, a train came through town led by a locomotive still in Grand Trunk blue and red. I was a quarter mile away (400 meters) so all I could tell was that it was an older EMD unit. What really caught my interest was the train: roughly
6 passenger cars bracketed at each end by a power unit, all painted for VIA Rail. They looked brand new.
?
Any information on this?
