Re: This Weekend in CNR History
If had to guess, I would say that the "last pre-war streamliner" phrase was a name attached to it by the Illinois Central press office, as I have seen it in many different sources. And I am strictly guessing here. Mark Tomlonson "I have sworn an oath of solitude until the pestilence is purged from the lands" - - Viking war oath (?)

April 30 in CNR History
April 30, 1900 In Vaughan, MS Illinois Central engineer John Luther "Casey" Jones becomes a hero and a legend. Jones stays with his train, the "Cannonball Express" when the track ahead is blocked by a freight train. Jones slows his train down enough to save his passengers, but not himself. ? April 30, 1912 In a speech before the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Rudolph Diesel says "I cannot predict whether this attempt at an entire revolution in the workings of the railways will be successful at the first attempt, or whether it must be repeated, but one thing is certain to me: the diesel locomotive will come, sooner or later, according to the perseverance with which the problem is followed." ? |

Re: Goreway Drive, Halton Sub.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGoreway Drive is currently a grade crossing with plans to begin construction on a grade separation (overpass) starting in late 2020 or 2021. Yes, BIT operations delays things. A lot (to the point that Transport Canada has been engaged by the municipalities).Airport Road is an overpass. Underpasses were recently built on Torbram at both the Halton and the Weston crossings. -Dave

Re: Goreway Drive, Halton Sub.
Last time I went through it was a level crossing. CN has done a lot of work on Torbram Road, where there are two grade separations where there used to be level crossings a few years ago. Adam On Wed, Apr 29, 2020 at 4:15 PM Doug Renshaw <trainguy999@...> wrote:

I have conflicting info on Goreway Drive, Mlge 8.80 of the Halton Sub.
Does Goreway Drive go under/over the Halton Sub. or is it a level crossing? Would seem if it's a level crossing, traffic must get backed up regularly with trains accessing Brampton Intermodal Terminal. Thanks Doug |
