#v6 software #v6

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Dear Members,

?

I am getting back in the game with a new all band Ubitx v6.?? In preparation of trying to put a NX display on it, I was learning how to download and program a Arduino NANO and see if it would work.?? I bought some identical (I think) Arduinos from Amazon and after giving them an Alcohol bath to make sure they didn¡¯t have the Corona virus on them.? I soldered the pin on the to match the existing Nano in the Ubitx.?? The downloading and setting up the Arduino IDE went well thanks to Farhan¡¯s Video.? In the tools my NANO¡¯S would only program somewhat correctly when I used the ATMEGA 328P (old bootloader) option.? The other thing is that my programmed NANO¡¯s would not allow me to select anything on the touch screen.

I did a visual scan of the chips, pin numbers, and resistors and the boards look to be identical.? Just as a check, I assembled a second board and programmed it and got the exact same results.?? I am using Arduino version 1.8.12 IDE.? So, I am at a

Crossroads on what to do next.?? I tried to find another version of the software and saw messages that said version 6.3.1 but it wasn¡¯t on the Git Hub location that I could find.?

?

So my questions are:

Am I the only one that noticed this ¡°feature¡±??

Is there another working version of the V6 software somewhere that I can download and try again?

Is the software on the Git Hub site been checked lately.

Is there some other troubleshooting I can do?

?

I am glad I? kept my original Arduino intact with version 6.1 software on it and use other processors? to learn with.?

?

Any suggestions welcome.? I really like the sound of the radio.? It will be an asset to my learning and showing others that things like this are possible with perserverence and learning new skills.

?

Take care and have fun.

Hi David,

Look for Reed's code in Github. I'm answering with phone now but can look at the link after a while.

Hello, I suggest you go through the touch screen calibration again. Push and hold the Tune knob on power up to enter the calibration. I believe you will need to do this every time you change Nano's, at least that has been my experience.

Lou

Dear Lou,

Thanks for the hint about the touch screen calibration.? I didn't know that it even existed.?? So I will try that sometime today.? The basic setup and calibration procedures need to be a part of the main UBITX V6 WEBSITE and not scattered throughout this question and answer game that exists on the group.io area.
It is VERY difficult to find the basic setups you need to get this radio running because you have to sift through all the messages on this website? to find the basic information to get started.?? That is what turned me off on the 40M BITX and it ended up on the shelf unfinished.

Take care and have fun.

Dear Juha,
Thanks for the hint where Reed's code might be.?? I took a quick look? But didn't find it right off.?? But will try again later.
It seems that if a person misses a message on this website where something is..... It is gone forever.??

Take care and have fun.

Here's the thread on Reed's code.
The forum search function works pretty well.

I find if I am looking for a link someone quoted in these group.io posts that I can usually find it in the archived messages. I use an email client program and save an archive in it that is specific to my version of uBITx. The advanced search allows searching through actual text as well as header/subjects etc. If I accidentally delete something from my email client program I can find it by searching the online archives also. In these cases I usually use a web browser to search online archives but only go back to a date that coincides with the initial release of my version of UBITx.

Sometimes it is a bit of extra effort to find that elusive link or message but usually I have found it in one of those two searches for what it might be worth wrt "gone forever" comment.

cheers 73 & gud dx
