Ubitx version 6 encoder

I picked up a used version 6. Does the encoder turn smoothly or are there mechanical detents? This one may need a new one as it jumps down the band intermittently when tuned up the band. It may move 10 kHz downward erratically or it may work ok. Solder connections look good. Haven¡¯t had much chance to look at it yet. I think I have another encoder to try.

Hi John,
?
The erratic tuning behavior is one of the complaints of the original software provided with the v6. ?There are several choices available in the files section of the group. ?They also fix most of the CW issues as well. ?You can find them in the files section of the group.?

I was going to try Reed¡¯s version anyway. Good to know. Thanks?

I know it's a low-tech solution, but I solved the problem using an encoder with an active mechanical stop, mechanically it won't be able to move from where you set it and the rotation speed is actually what you set and there can't be any reading deviations; I understand that it's not an elegant solution for computer scientists, but just a low-cost and highly efficient solution for good old-fashioned engineers.

I also have some bitx 40s that have a ten turn pot with a turns counting dial that locks. My ubitx v6 that I picked up recently I just loaded with the N8ME? software. It is better but I am going to try a different encoder or nano. It still moves around by itself or increments downward when tuning upward or doesn¡¯t move at all. Either the encoder is bad or something with the nano. ?Wiring looks ok. I like to be able to have the tuning step size it provides.?

Hello,
Tuning was one of the reason I have created my version of the firmware (working with original display - not NEXTION).
You can try it from:
?
All features are described in readme file (please read first), there is also screenshot of menu, some schematics of rf-gain and s-meter and other info.
Mind I have removed detents from my encoder to have smooth operation. While in the car or other narrow environment I am using LCK button to lock tuning from encoder for session with one cor-responder.

Tomasz
PS. By the way - currently I am installing self made SWR bridge to my ubitx v6 to work with 100uA meter.

Thanks for the information. I will give it a try too.?
