On the other hand, having the cooling over the 5 volt regulator may lead to better frequency stability.? Or if you want to add things to the case, the top on backwards positions the speaker in a different place freeing up space in the radiuno area.

That's exactly what I did n my uBitx V6, I removed the speaker and turned the top plate upside down, I then counter sunk the speaker holes and remounted it back in place. The 5 volt regulator now sits just below the vents and everything looks neat and clean. I don't do digital, only SSB so the finals don't get that hot anyway, so it works perfect for me. By the way, I built an after market Raduino clone with a heat sink attached to the PCB so it already runs cooler and way more stable.
