Tell me -"WHY NOT, ASHBAR?"
Why not? Because a socket creates a whole bunch more possible points of failure without buying much. ?You can easily uncouple the entire Raduino from the Bitx40 and put in some other VFO. ? If I were to change something, I'd put an Si5351 down on the main board to drive both the BFO and VFO, then it's just the i2c SDA/SCL lines into the Si5351 from the Arduino clone of your choice. ?And that Arduino can be coupled to any display you want. ? I'd be willing to pay a few $$ more if the Raduino's nano was socketed... ? |
Hopefully having fun, and maybe learning a bit. ?Looking like your original thought of a bad Si5351 was probably correct. ?Let us know what you find out. On Sat, Feb 18, 2017 at 08:09 am, Goran VE6GPO wrote:
BTW, for the purpose of my troubleshooting, I unsoldered Nano and put a socket instead (less than an hour of a job). It's not a hard thing to do. But, I'll be putting it back as soon as I'm done tinkering and noodling. ? |
