sBitx was working, now multiple issues #sBITX_v3 #sBitx

 

I have an sBitx v3 that was purchased assembled.? It worked fine until yesterday - when I turned it on and attempted to tune my antenna, there was no output.? I rebooted the Pi, same issue.? I also noticed a constant "clicking" noise, at maybe 3 or 4 Hz on most bands.? Finally, when I attempt to tune - it tunes only? 50 KHz and then it stops.? It worked fine the day before.? The only thing possibly different is this - when I shut it down daily, I will close the software and then shut the Pi down via Raspbian.? Then I shut off the sBitx.? However I forgot to do the latter - the sBitx had power to it all night without the Pi running.? That's the only thing that I can possibly connect to the fact that I now have an sBitx that is not working as it should.? I'm quite disappointed, as I was really enjoying operating ft8 with it.

I bet the Si5351 just isnt?initiallizing?properly.? ? Happens to me from time to time.? I'm sure I've left power on many times in the past with no ill effects.? ? I'm hoping that if you completely remove power, wait a few seconds, then start all over again it will work fine, or if not, repeat another time or two (completely removing power in between) and hopefully it will work.

I said si5351, but I think it is the CODEC that is actually the problem (fuzzy memory, sorry!)

I have had the same experience as Gordon when power-cycling the sBitx.? That happened on both my DE and v3 with the original factory software.? I have not had the problem since I upgraded to JJ's 64bit software:

There is a link for an image that you can install on a blank microSD.

The issue is the Wolfson Codec, which fails to initialize correctly.? I have had to wait up to 30 seconds for the system to reset completely.? Try that first.

Is anyone else unable to download the latest image from Google Drive?? The error states that it's unable to read the file about 90% into the download.? Tried on two systems with different network connections.
