sBitx V2 finals

Owen Baldwin

Hi guys, help needed again please? After replacing the finals in my sBitx v2 and powering on sees no action? the l.e.d.s inside are flashing etc but no power on screen? is there a fuse or something I have missed? I checked the power IRF4905 mosfet but seems to read ok? regards Owen G0RCL

Did you plug the the little power lead back into the display? It sounds like no power to the display.

Thanks and yes I did Joel, the two pin plug and also the?other two and three pin plug and 10 pin to the potentiometers. I checked and double checked but can't see anything obvious. I made sure the?finals were well soldered?and the heatsink bracket was?good etc. I just wondered if anyone else has had this, so I can just put my?finger on without delving deeper into testing etc? Check if the SD card is in place.
You have to see this from the inside.

ps.:? When you replace the Fets, you first disconnect the front panel from the pcb and back panel.
Then you have to disconnect the connectors on the pcb and remove the flat wire from the socket for the display.
By loosening the small black conical elements (bottom and top) on the socket to the right.
Now check this as well, whether you pushed it back so that the wire is firmly in contact with the connector.

Yes, they were all put back snuggly.

You will find a bad connection or a bad soldering where continuity is interrupted. Replacing the FET does not cause problems at departure.
I remember it is easy to skip the wrong place and accept it as good. It will be a banal mistake, I think.

Check and see if there is a pattern on the LEDs coming from the raspberry pi. ?Those can be diagnostic and there are lists of what they mean. ?If there is a pattern that might help you?

Thanks Gordon, there just seems to be a random flashing of the green led for a while, while the reds are on? Then after a short while the green stops, but still no display. I have looked through the manual and there doesn't seem to be any faults procedure?lists anywhere? Owen de G0RCL

Owen, I can't tell from the photo - do you have the new FETs insulated from the heatsink still?

Hi Mike, yes they are installed, and they went in place, just the same as the old ones came out etc, I have gone by the book. I am not a novice, I?know what I'm doing, regarding soldering etc. Just can't seem to find out why the screen won't turn on, so I can?bios them properly,?I have checked all connections etc? G0RCL?

I'm worried that this sounds a lot like what happened to me when the raspberry pi V4 was damaged.? ?When I replaced it, it damaged the next one also.? ?

I would encourage you to very accurately measure the supply voltage to the raspberry pi and report that here.? ? I never figured out what blew mine.

I don't know if that is what is happening for sure.? ? I'm just telling you the best that I can.? ??

If I were you, I would disconnect all the connections again and again.
It may happen that, for example, your ribbon cable is slightly crooked or the SD card connector is faulty.
These are all just tips and the solution is up to you.
A workplace memory is that a well-working professional always skipped over the place of error, he considered it good.
When my boss looked it over, the fault was revealed. More eyes see more.

ps.: put it aside and you will find the reason when you relax.

If you have a spare microSD card, I would try that as well.

Joe,
he already solved the problem, he just opened another thread with the same name and described the solution there.
