#sBitx SSB transmit problem and CW keyer #sBitx

Any one else has these problems and maybe a solution?

I am happy with my sBitx as a receiver and ft8 transceiver but the cw keyer is impossible to use above 10wpm. It doesn't always get the first dot or dash of a character or other anomalies.
In SSB either I turn the gain down and I hardly get any power output (way less than a watt) orI increase the mike gain and it starts showing sustained oscillations.
The DC voltage on the mike is 10.4 volts, the audio component is about 30 to 50mV when talking at a normal level but can go over 100mV if I talk louder and closer to the mike.
I did redo the PA Bias and it is the same as it was when I received the radio. I did the power output calibration and the power output in a dummy load and a antenna is as expected in CW and ft8.
I was able to make contacts in ft8. Also worth to mention is the sending of a CQ from the macro is working fine and Reverse Beacon Network shows my signal at the correct WPM.
I hope I did explain this correctly. Aside from these shortcomings I love the radio and I think the receiver is really good.

am I really the only one with these problems?

you are not alone

when I send DE?? dah didit? dit?? the last dit is not there,,,,

for now V2 is on the shelf,,,,??? I wish all email subjects would? indicate sbitx V2??? or whatever radio is discussed, I cannot always figure out if the comments about software or SWR relate to V2 HDWE

c u ALL? AT DAYTON?? I may take my updated DE to sell in fleatown

Thanks for letting me know Bill. It is surprising the lack of feedback on this subject from Fahran.
As for which radio the posting is I have the same view and already requested that but no action seen.

Have fun in Dayton.

I completely agree.? I really only care about the sBITX V2 and its progress, but the list is such a mishmash of issues on other non-specified hardware that I'm almost not willing to bother anymore.? I've tried pretty hard to understand which threads predate my interest and which don't, but people are so sloppy with their post subject lines that the effort required exceeds the value.

Dave,

do you think that it would help to mark title always with h/w type in bracket? For example “[sBitx V2] CW keying issue” or “[sBitx V1 DE] V2 software” etc.?

just 2c?

Petr

The keying issues are same on either versions of sbitx.
As you can see from my may 4th post. I rewrote the iambic keyer entirely. As I am not use a keyer, I am unable to test this properly.?
I think this needs a different, interrupt driven keyer instead.

Petr,

that was the intent of the hash tags #sbitx. ?The moderator could add a #sbitxV2 as an example.?

The messaging?system uses hashtags?#.? So?#sBitx?#sBitxv2?#sBitxdev would?work better with the system.

Sorry - Evan beat me to it.

what about the modulation problem in SSB I mentioned Ashar? At this time I can only use the radio on ft8, CW is not usable, and by the way even with a straight key
it doesn't work right. Can't use it in SSB either as I reported earlier.
Later I'll measure the audio on the input of the WM8731 IC. I did measure the audio coming from the mike and it is fine.

Exactly that.? I belong to other mailing lists with multiple hardware models (Elecraft being one of them), and that is essentially how it is handled.? It works well.? I just mentally screen the headings I want, but many people set up filters in their email application to do it automatically.

Take care,

I would be fine with that also.

Ashar,

I did measure the audio at the C119? (both sides) and the audio level is fine there. However I hardly get any HF power out.
The audio scope on the screen shows the waveform but I don't know if it is the correct level. I asked my friend Pete to make a pictures of his screen so I can compare.
CW, ft8 and two-tones gives the expected power output. No output in psk31 nor RTTY. Could the the WM8731 IC. be defective?

My V2 is going on the shelf too… will wait till I hear of a software release that almost definitely will not blow up any components on the released hardware. After my experiences with DE V1, I’m pessimistic….

I bought the V2 expecting a working transceiver as it followed the experimental version and it also was demonstrated in multiple YouTube videos by Fahran as
a working radio,
I find that I have been mislead and paid for a lemon. But the worst part is that Fahran does not even comment on those detailed problem reports on this group,
I would have been less upset if at least he would show some care and priority. I feel for the people at Dayton who will buy those at this time useless radios.

I reply to all messages within 24 hours. I have been travelling for the last few days. As for the problems, many are just need a different explanation for getting it done.
Since the last update of may 9th, if the radio has been properly updated, there are no show stoppers except for the iambic keying.

Fahran,
When and where will a updated, downloadable image be available for those of us that do no speak Linux? ?I can download an image and burn it to an SD card. ?I was under the impression that this would be available soon, but as of yet, have seen no mention of this on this group or on the sBitx website. ?Tnx.

Fahran unfortunately that is not the case. I am not the only one that reported modulation problems even with the latest update.
Look at my previous postings with precise description of what I measured and questions to which you never replied nor commented.

John,
I was waiting for the last upgrade to settle down. It is now all done. Expect it inside a day.
