sBitx and zBitx with SCAMP mode and Fldigi
Pierre - FK8IH
I'm testing my QRP-Labs QDX with emergency situations in mind. I already configured it with JS8Call, with Fldigi in RTTY mode and having just installed Fldigi v.2.0.6.20 an alpha version from?version which incorporates a new emergency mode called SCAMP.
I tested on my QDX the sub-version SCAMPFSK (2 carriers) and SCAMPOOK (1 carrier) as well as much slower versions and a faster version in a dummy load and they work nicely. There remains to test them with a real antenna.
A manual of SCAMP can be downloaded on?
I wonder if after installing the alpha Fldigi this "Simple Conversational Amateur Messaging Protocol (SCAMP)" could be tested with a sBitx or even better a zBitx. With a zBitx it would make an interesting emergency transceiver for EMCOM organizations.
by Daniel Marks, KW4TI Comments will be appreciated as well as results of possible testings.

Brandon, I still think SCAMP would be a nice addition to zBitx. It works well with my QDX... on a dummy load for the moment but I get a good output power. There is a wide choice of speed, from very low to fast. BUT the problem is that this new mode is unknown and I wonder how many OMs are using it. I will transmit on a real antenna and see if PSKReporter has seen my transmission.

As far as I can see, PSKreporter does not include SCAMP on the list of modes being tracked, yet.

What are the advantages of SCAMP compared to js8call? Both are "conversational" low signal modes. There are already quite a few operators using js8 (although, far fewer than FT8). My primary digital mode is js8 on a uBitxV6. Although, I don't own an sBitx or zBitx, for me, it would be important to have js8call preloaded in the software bundle. |
you can always load it yourself, right? On Sun, Feb 23, 2025 at 7:22?PM DaveW, KL7HJF via <david=[email protected]> wrote:
