Rotary Encoder - Found a Nut?
开云体育I don't think it is 7mm, mine measures 6.75 outside diameter. If you go to McMaster Carr you can see drawings of bolts.? 7mm are 7 mm outside dia? All Electronics Pot NUT Fits!? 10K audio taper Cat# NATP-10K about $0.50 Pot, Nut, and flat washer. You could also make you panel hole undersize (no clearance), and thread the encoder in, there is so little turning force, that would work too?

A google search for M7x0.75 will turn up a number of suppliers. The going price seems to be 50 cents ea. Vince.Actually a friend came up with this drawing late last night which seems to indicate a 7mm - 0.75. -- John - WA2FZW -- Mike Hagen, WA6ISP 10917 Bryant Street Yucaipa, Ca. 92399 (909) 918-0058 PayPal ID "MotDog@..." Graham
all threaded devices be it a bolt or panel mount device will have it's

outside diameter a bit smaller than the stated size. In other words a M7 bolt (i.e. 7mm) will have an outside diameter somwehat small than 7mm due to the tolerance of the thread. Your typical panel mount pots from Asia which has a measured outside diameter of the thread that is near 7mm will in all likelihood be threaded M7 x 0.75. Brand name Bradley, Bourns, (etc) which are larger than 7 m will be threaded 3/8-24. cheers, Graham ve3gtc On 8/21/2017, "Michael Hagen" <motdog@...> wrote:

开云体育I tried the nut on this pot on my encoder, it fits!? So it is some kind of standard for import 6mm pots too. Yes, looks like McMaster does have Thin Nuts in Metric, but NOT 7MM. They skip that size. I bought my encoders on eBay, the picture showed a thread and a nut.? I guess we have to really be careful to look at the pictures? I got 10 for about $8.?? I have a bunch of Un Threaded ones, I have hot glued them in a "tight" hole and they have not fallen out. Kinda Micky Mouse, I know. Mike I bought these pots, just happens the nuts fit my
encoders..........

Please see? at top of page7 , where the? ALPS make but is defined. I suppose, others too might follow the similar size. On Mon, Aug 21, 2017 at 9:18 PM, Michael Hagen <motdog@...> wrote:

Mickey Mouse? Fitting for Electronics, particularly Digital! Logic ICs evolved from RTL (Resistor-Transistor Logic) to DTL (Resistor-Transistor Logic) to TTL ( T^2L, Transistor-Transistor Logic). around this time the versatility of Digital circuits became apparent with Techs' experimenting generating the next evolution, M^2L - MML, Mickey-Mouse Logic, using devices for purposes for which they were never intended! Long live M^2L! :)
