QR code and KD8CEC Memory Manager, "Error- data file is short"

Ulf Westman

Hi,

I can't use the QRcode function with KD8CEC Memory mangaer. I get? "Error- data file is short".
Should I maybe register at hamskey? I can't however find any function or a link for that.

Hmmm. Strange. Worked for me last week and I have a badly messed up eeprom. I assume you entered your call sign in with the memory manager? The backup is stored by call sign.?

sorrry, no other suggestions. ?

Hi,

Yes I have entered my callsign in memory manager.

I remenber that I didn't succed to load the "ubtix_28-file", since I got "file version is too low"? just as in /g/BITX20/message/91201.

However I solved it by editing the line "txt_maxl." just as in /g/BITX20/message/91212.
The nextion display that I bought is 1 "Ferwooh Nextion Basic Display 2.8'' NX3224T028 2.8inch TFT Resistive Touch Screen Panel 320X240 UART HMI LCD Display Module for Arduino Raspberry Pi ESP8266"). I guess that this is the reason for my problem to scan the QR code? I saw that the are some nextion display 2.8" versions with more memory, Do anybody have some suggestions for solutions?

Ulf,

The model of the Nextion screen that you listed is a 2.8nch Basic model.? You need to find an HMI or TFT file that matches a 2.8" basic Nextion.

You should also note that the original files require an old version of the Nextion editor to compile successfully.? I believe this is due to added functionality in the base code loaded when the application is compiled that was not in the original editor.? On the Nextion site, the editor you want is called LTS.? Here is the link:

The alternative is to use the TFT file for the correct model and follow the directions on the Nextion site to transfer to a microSD card.

Try the above and let us know if that solves your problem.

Ulf,

Did you find uBitX Manager version 1.110?? It is hidden away on KD8CEC's site in the 1.2 Release area. It is pretty neat as it will use your call sign to retrieve all your backups and let you restore it (that is of course assuming you could do a backup...)

The Basic version of the screen you have is pretty limited in memory. When I was developing/extending the KD8CEC screens, I would occasionally try it on a Basic, but towards the end was getting our of memory errors. The "Enhanced" is better as it has its own GPU and more memory. Have a 4.3 "Intelligent" (step up from enhanced) on order. Will see if I can compile the existing HMI screens for it.

I have a 2.8 screen still in the box. Wonder if the resolution is too low for the Scan???

Hi,

I saw that Tim (in /g/BITX20/message/91212) has hade same problem. I asked him if he can use the QR-functions ...
?I mangaed to compile (editing the "txt_maxl", but i cant use QR-ode function. Are there any other "features/values" that I can trim down/decrease, or should I order a enhanged version??
