Observations in sBitx v3

开云体育

Hi All,

i have noticed the below issues in sBITX v3. If any of you have the same and resolved it please do let me know steps to resolve these

  1. RPI time is not in sync with local time [ UTC time in sBitx app is fine ] , the local timezone, locale etc is correct in Rpi-Configuration
  2. Not seen max power of 20w in either SSB/FT8 so far in any band.
  3. In FT8, i dont see any reception i make in psk reporter, is there any setting to be activated as in Sbitx config files ? I am able to see tx spots going everywhere. Though i did have few confirmed QSO's occasionally?
  4. Most of the time SWR is 1?
  5. high amount of? noise in the bands , is this due to DC regulator board used ? is there a way to do DNR ?

Expecting inputs from you all!! Thanks in advance.?

Cheers
Divakar

Divakar,
The solution lies in the details. There is a solution for this topic, but it is not highlighted.
Therefore, it is only solved in the 64-bit version. see here. Message #110023.

The output power is affected by several factors: good heat dissipation from the heatsink must be solved.
I use an external fan. It is necessary to check to what extent the values of the scale can be modified in the 'hardware settings ini'. It also depends on your device.
The structure must be mechanically stable (fastening of screws).
In other words, if the hardware is fine, you can expect the software to work well.

The psk reporter is integrated into the sBITX toolbox of W9JES, see if it is suitable for you.

SWR 1. Only this and nothing else on the display?
Then you also have to look at the components in the circuit.

Noisy band. I use a closed loop antenna, it doesn't show up for me.
There are solutions, the RPi's power supply circuit was reinstalled as a closed box.
I have the original, but maybe this is the solution for you.

Wait for others' comments.

For question number one.? If your time is right to the minute but you are stuck in the wrong time zone.

From the Linux prompt:
cd /home/pi/sBITX-toolbox/scripts
./sbitx_fix.sh
And then answer y to the first question and then reboot.
shutdown now -r

Also have you installed the Toolbox yet?

It will help with the Time Sync.? But, you'll have to do the other thing if you're having time zone issue of being stuck in the Arizona time zone.

For question number 2 have you tried sliding your volume slider up during transmit? Does the power go up to something reasonable?? Do you have to move the volume up every time you transmit?

If that is the case, like it was for sBitx V3 I had to overwrite my?default_hw_settings.ini.

Hi Gyula ,?
Thank you for your response , i will check these.?
It would hep if you can share a pic of how you have done the Fan arrangement.

Divakar,
You don't have to think about complicated things.
I bought a , for which I bent an L shape from an aluminum plate to the two sides of the fan.
The fan and the plate are fixed together with screws.
It is wedged between the heat sink and can be removed at any time if necessary.

Do you have more info on modifying this file?? My output is around 15W on all channels with CW, measured with an external power meter (internal displays the same).?

Thank you,
Jared

I would say if you are getting 15 Watts out CW with your drive set to 100% you are pretty close to good.? And, you don't have the particular problem I was having.?

I would be careful to adjusting the values in the default_hw_settings.ini.? And, I would at least back them up before I would think about editing them if I would edit them at all.?

Maybe, somebody else with more experience tweaking these output values could chime in.

Remember the power output will change by the square of the proportion of change that you make in those settings. ? Those settings control the voltage game and power is proportional to the square of voltage

Also be on the lookout for differences between CW and CWR power. ? I think often they’re going to be different because of ripple in the crystal filter passband response?
