Noob without mic

So the ubitx comes with an electret mic, a pushbutton, and some extra resistors.? I guess it¡¯s pretty obvious these are to build the mic with.? But where are the directions or a schematic for the mic itself?

Secondly, does a mic need to be plugged into the jack to be able to hear audio?? Can you use headphone? I believe I got in over my head this time.

Thanks, but that doesn¡¯t show how to wire it up for an idiot like me.

Ground is common to tip and ring.? Switch goes between ring and sleeve

?

Best to use shielded wire for mic lead.

I have a lot of positive comments on the audio quality with both my bitx40 and ubitx.? I am using stock mikes.?

Here's a sketch with a picture. No resistors needed, just the electret and the switch

I prefer to wire the mic to the ring and the PTT to the tip.? That way the mic won¡¯t be exposed to PTT voltage as the plug is inserted and removed from the jack.
