No CW Key Jack Wiring (Check My Work)
#ubitx
W7PEA
I don't do CW, will likely never to CW, so when I assembled my uBITX I didn't wire in the jack for the key, but I saw in the instructions you had to have a resistor there no matter what. Attached is a picture of how I did that.?I think I have this right, but I thought it was worth asking before I added this to the wiki.
Thanks, Patrick W7PEA |

They called that wire blue on mine. Different folks have different color perceptions. I believe you have it wired right. Be sure to insulate that whole thing or Murphy will get you. If one end of that conglomeration accidentally gets grounded the rig will go into transmit - CW - and stay there. If the other end gets accidentally grounded you will pull your 5-volt supply to ground and - trouble! Ask me how I know that:) Some electrical tape and chewing gum (used) will work. If you are not going to ever use the CW part of your radio maybe I can get you to send it to me <evil grin>. I will install it in a CB radio I converted to ten meters. Please be careful when you remove it from your radio so as to not ruin something nearby - like the upper sideband. For those who didn't know and might be scratching their heads - OY! That last paragraph is *joke*. I know not everybody is completely familiar with English:) 73, Bill KU8H On 07/09/2018 01:34 PM, W7PEA wrote:

Patrick,
Since it is going to the Wiki:? As is,? it might be a little confusing.? What you see as green, I see as yellow... and it's a 4.7K ohm resistor on the wire up diagram. Personal use:? If you don't use CW, why not strip out the CW code from the firmware and now you have more code space and an input to put to other uses? Regards, Gary |

The wire colors have the same order as the resistor color code: black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet.? You labeled the connector "Raduino," so the "R" is at the violet-wire end, and the "o" is at the black-wire end of the connector as shown in the photo.
