New uBITX Ver. 6 Assembled Today
I assembled my V6 full kit today.? No nut for the BNC connector, no sticky on the feet and the feet are too large to work with screw positions, volume knob can be attached but just barely.? Those are no big deals.? Maybe you an help me with some electrical issues listed below.
My problems are electrical: (1) When mic is plugged in for a minute or so, the radio will cycle to TX at the same rate as the CW speed.? Unplugging the mic stops the TX cycling, but it will start up again at unexpected times.? Can't make this happen when moving the mic/cord, so it is not a faulty cable or switch. (2) My radio is on USB when it says LSB on 40 meters.? The radio is on USB when it says LSB on 20 meters.? Other bands not checked.? Confirmed this issue with on-air contacts. (3) In CW mode USB and LSB are the same with no sideband suppression.? That's OK, but where do you tune to zero beat a station? Bert N8NN |

Ashhar -- I set the frequency using WWV.? It is correct now to 0.20.? With a little more effort I may get it to 0.00.? For the BFO I tuned it by ear because I could not find the cellphone app on the website you gave me.? Thanks for the suggestions!??
Joel -- Thanks for the WWV recommendation.? It worked! 73, Bert N8NN |
The instructions are on the website.? Look at step 8 On Sat 28 Dec, 2019, 10:05 PM Bob Bennett via Groups.Io, <bobsmacbox=[email protected]> wrote: There were no instructions on where to plug in the speaker. Also from previous models when the headphones were plugged in the speaker was muted. |

are you using a mobile phone?
is the mike of the phone near to the speaker? you should see audio signals from the speaker as a green image. then follow instructions. if you have already set up the BFO, you can check how close you are to optimum. I originally set mine up with a strong ssb contact to get best sounding audio. checking with this utility showed mine to be set in the middle of the two vertical red lines. G4GPF |
oh yeah, he hasn't fixed that bug in his firmware. I should send him

When I connect to the web page provided on my computer (Windows 10) without a microphone, I get just the instructions.? When I connect to the same page on my laptop, also Windows10, with a mic, I get the graphics showing the current audio spectrum.? See the screen shot in pdf format attached.
I would suggest you verify that you have a source of audio that the page can access. 73 Evan AC9TU |
Also, on my Chrome instance on my laptop, I had to give permission to the web page to access my microphone.? Once that was done, then the spectrum widget showed up on the page. If you've blocked all access to your microphone in the Chrome settings (which can be set to 'allow all', 'ask me' or 'block all'), then you may or may not get a prompt to allow, depending on how you set things up on your browser. Also, AF, there is nothing on the "assembling the kit" page or the following operating page that tells: 1) Which of the front panel jacks are the mic, phones, and CW jacks (might be obvious to the designer) and they are not labeled on the cabinet, either.? Guessing is probably not a good idea, since the mic jack has voltage on it.? Can a mono plug be plugged into the phones jack, or will that short out one channel and possible blow something?? You can bet someone will try. 2) How to get into the setup menu?? By experiment, I found that by holding the encoder button down and cycling the power, I got into a set of menus to calibrate the screen, followed by 'use 10 MHz to set the LO' (took some head scratching but I was finally able to use 10 MHz WWV to zerobeat) and finally the BFO adjustment.? I've yet to find anything on the "assembling" or "operating" pages to help folks calibrate their V6. Finally, I couldn't find the BFO alignment page from any of the other pages on the web site.? It seems it is 'hidden'.? The only way I was aware of it was because you posted it on this mailing list. And oh yeah.? In spite of claims made that all boards are test and calibrated, I've yet to receive one board (V3, V5, or V6) that was calibrated when I received it.? ?Am I just that unlucky, or is this a common issue? Thanks, and 73, -- Dave, N8SBE

I¡¯ve been testing my new v6 it seems to receive well I¡¯ve heard several stations. Unfortunately I don¡¯t have an HF SWR meter to test with. I now suspect I¡¯m not transmitting. I tried listening (using a WebSDR site) to my own transmission ?but I hear nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?
