Memory Socket on standard V6.1 screen?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Here is something I never noticed before. The standard V6.1, 2.8 IN. screen has a memory socket similar to Nextion 2.8 screen. Can the standard screen hold a more elaborate program similar to the nextion family of screens? If so, where can I find the programming parameters?

As one can see from the picture, the SD card socket is not connected to anything.
It's there because the original design it's cloned from had one and it has stayed.
It does allow having images and other stuff on an SD card if using some small microcontroller like most arduinos.
But I, doubt there's any space left in the arduino used in uBITX for the filesystem and other stuff to make any use of it.

Thank you.

Yes, I have read from VU2ESE that the there is no more room on the Arduino. I found a pretty reasonable priced Nextion 2.8¡± (for USA, anyway) at RobotShop.com .

Jamey:

I have been buying displays from BuyDisplay.com for several years now. They have good prices (i.e., a 2.8" TFT display is under $18) and reasonably fast shipping. We are using their 5" display:

Inline image

which is an 800x480 display with great fidelity with SPI interface for about $48. While I think the smallest display I've ordered from them was a 3.5", my guess is their 2.8" would be a good substitute for yours at about half the price. True, you will have to wait a couple of weeks, but depending upon where you are in your project, that might not be an issue.

It looks like that SD card socket is only there for convenience in an embedded system. The traces are just connected to those labelled holes.
