fitting to include multimeter in power circuit to read milliamps power

 

One thing that I need to do yet is to check the power draw while in RX and TX.

How are BITX builders putting a ammeter in line with the power supply?

I don't want to cut any of my power cords. I don't want to unsolder the connections in the radio at the power socket.

I am thinking about making up a fitting with a male barrel plug on one end, and a female barrel socket on the other, with a connecter in the middle to allow insertion of ammeter probes.

Is there a better way?

Based on the things you don't want to do, I think you have described the only answer that makes sense.
