Elmer in Atlanta GA with working BITx40 RFSignals Kit working

Howdy,

I am seeking someone close to Atlanta, GA that has a working Bitx-40
"Kit" the one that you just do the final wiring and put the "kit" in a enclosure.

My "kit" receives great but does not transmit.

Thanks in advance.

Probably a wiring issue on the mic jack. You may need to examine in
f your moc uses tip and sleeve or ring and sleeve for the electret. If you made your own with supplied condenser element,
you need to check your wiring. Make sure you used the correct pin for ground.

There is a file here with the voltages to be expected for a BitX40. A common failure point is the Q13 transistor, which is what mine had before I installed the back-to-back diode mod. I actually found the problem watching a video from VK3YE. Google "VK3YE BitX40 repair".

Vic,

I will give that file a try and measure the voltages.? Was your problem also
no output on transmit??

Did you use all the connectors supplied I had ONE left Over.

Yes, I was using a 500W radio near the BitX40 and even though it was off and disconnected from an antenna, it fried Q13. So when I keyed PTT it would go into transmit but had no output. Another failure reported is that the relay (K1, I think) coil opens and it fails to switch to transmit at all.

An extra connector was provided with my BitX40 which was to allow using the analog VFO instead of the Raduino, I believe. It isn't needed for most applications.

BTW, the "fix" for my blown Q13 was to lift the SMD part off the board and replace it with a standard 2N2222A with leads that I had on hand, just connecting the EBC leads to the same spots where the bad transistor was. I had to increase the RV1 gain after that, but the radio performed fine.
