Displays

Is anyone using a 4 line display on the Raduino, to display extra fixed Text such as Callsign etc?

If so what would I need to add to the sketch to achieve this?

Thanks

Ted

I am.? I am going to use it for the signal meter display and not sure what else yet. I'm about half way with my build.? Just started the wiring into the chassis.? Sorry, cant help you with the coding ...yet, but I'm sure there are others here who can. I too will be looking for their replies.

Jack W8TEE recently modified the code so that it could handly a 4x20 display:

I took your 1.20.1 release and modified it so that it could handle a 4x20 display by just changing two #defines (around line 50). I also combined your printLine1() and printLine2() functions into a general routine, printLine(char *s, int whichRow), that will print to any of 4 possible lines.
Thanks Jack!
Unfortunately I can't try it out as I only have the standard 2x16 display.
Perhaps someone wants to try it out so that we can include it in the next version?

I'd be happy to send you Allard's sketch I modified for the 4x20 display. It's totally untested as I don't have the display hooked up to my BITX40, but have attached it for anyone's use who cares to try it. Please let us know if it works or if the display blows up on your bench...naw, just kidding.

I went to a 4 line display some time ago. I am using the additional lines for an S meter and the last one is just my call. I am using the 1.17 sketch with just a few additional lines for the display. I would be happy to share but I went to a serial display to make it easier to fit in my case and it also got rid of any tuning noise.

I have a yellow version of the 4x20 I2C on my uBit.? They have jumper addresses to get it's address away from the SI Generator on Raduio.? Sometimes they are even cheaper with the I2C adapter than a parallel one?

I see some guys on here with the .96 OLED on there radios.?? You can even get a Yellow First Line!

Adafruit has Libraries.

I've used both. The OLED is from an upcoming QST article on a dummy load/wattmeter.
