Display Contrast Adjustment

Ed Vignati

Don, ND6T in his hacks ?statement:?I brought the brightness of my BITX??LCD down by replacing the 110 ohm ballast resistor for that LED??with a 470 ohm unit.

Can you put a potentiometer?in place of replacing the resistor and if so what pot would I use 1K, 10K, ect?

Thanks

Eddie,

You could but be sure to include at least a 100 ohm resistor in series with it to prevent over current. This is brightness, not contrast. A 1K would be OK.

Hi Ed. I just changed out the green display for a blue with white characters. It is very bright. You mentioned that Don added a 470 or 1k resistor to the ballast circuit. Can you please tell me where it is so I can do the same. Thanks, Mike WA1MAD

Fixed! The no audio driver issue is fixed. I replaced the electret mic element and wiring. Thanks to all that had suggestions/comments. I used an identical looking element that had solder pins, from Radio Shack. Does anyone know If the one that came with the Bitx anything special? Sensitivity? Freq response? Not sure of it's specification so not sure I can make a better match, or just go with what works.

Hey. Mike. FB!

Most of the electret mikes are the same. Go with what works.
That's usually the best way anyway. You can always search for a better way
after you have something that works...
