Disappointing

shytron

I have a BITX20 with some problems with the current measurements and cant seem to get any help with this group. I would have to say i am very discouraged. Ill just contact Ashar.

In order to provide help we would need to know a bit more about your problem.
  • Which model BITX do you have?

  • What test equipment do you have available?

  • What are the symptoms of the problem?

  • How far have you already gone with testing?
The group is usually quite helpful but "something is broken" is just too little
information to work with.

I haven't received my uBitX yet (ordered Feb 20th and waiting), but from what I've seen there are a lot of people willing to help in this group. I'm confident when mine does arrive and I start working with it, I'll be able to get lots of help if I can explain what my problem is.

I have found this forum to be a great place to ask for advise. On numerous occasions I have asked for suggestions on my latest projects that are sometimes only slightly related to Bitx and have always received really great and helpful responses. My last question was about tuned filters and using them with the NE602, I had loads of information suggested to me and this lead me on a path of research that I learned a huge amount from.

I now always ask in this forum first as I have had so much help from people who know a lot about the kinds of things I am interested in.

Looking at your list of posts I think you just need to provide a bit more information (as people replying have suggested) so that other users can see exactly what your set up is and so understand better the issues you are having.

From my experience here I know there will always be someone who understands exactly what you mean even if you do not word it quite right so you just need to give as much information as possible. As I mentioned above I got lots of information about tuned filters even though at the start I did not know they were called this, I just explained in detail what I was trying to do and other users could see what it was I was actually trying to achieve and so offer their advise.

This forum goes above and beyond to assist other users. It needs to be said though that this is just that, a forum of users. This product we are all endeavoring to enjoy is an open source project that we have been given the opportunity to purchase and assemble. It's not a Kenwood radio with a corporate support center and corporate resources. This is a dream a man had and was able to bring to fruition and provide to us at, in my opinion, is a fraction of it's worth.

I apologise if I am coming across as rude or heavy handed, but there needs to be a reality to one's expectations. The core of this entire project, for me at least, is patience and learning.

I've been a member of this group for months and the level of assistance and teamwork that is apparent here is nothing short of amazing. I had not even ordered a radio until last week, yet reading the threads here about issues and possible solutions and just general hacks and upgrades has been a highlight of my day. (After saying that, I might need to get out more...)

I ask that if you have a problem, be sure you give as much info as you can and be ready to work with others to fix it. This isn't a place where someone will fix it for you. It's a place where you will get all the help you need to fix it yourself.

Here endeth the rant.

I also received help where to look after I fixed mine after the U1 smoke.
Maybe you will not receive an answer right away but like me it took two days before someone answered.
People responding are all volunteers and I may hope that besides the hobby they have a life too.

This particular thread is all about disappointment, and that's fine with me.
James has another thread where he described his problem,
and the last post there suggested a path forward:
? ??/g/BITX20/message/45442
Any further suggestions of what he might try should go to that other thread.

Here's Sunil's May 2014 blog describing the BItx3B in question:
