Had a nice long QSO with Tom (VE3THR) on 7280 tonight. He was a pretty solid 59 here in NJ on his BitX. I was using my new toy tonight; a Yaesu FT891 but only running 10 watts. We were able to actually talk for about 15 minutes.

Just about this whole segment of the band is blown out here right now between the ARRL rookie roundup and contests.? Seems to me if the ARRL is going to push something called a rookie roundup they should remind said rookies of:

§97.313?? Transmitter power standards.
(a) An amateur station must use the minimum transmitter power necessary to carry out the desired communications.

Jeff G6EXF ... hang in there. Maybe around 0000 zulu (if you are still in the shack) is our greyline +or- . Have been into Spain on the bitx40 . You might stand a better chance of working the eastern seaboard of the States - Keep trying during the week too on 7.277 +/- QRM. Some of us retired guys have sooo much spare time! hihi? Where to the QRP guys hang out in the UK? What bands?? It would be nice if everyone is on the same freq once in a while. Especially with the uBITX now. Good Luck

Been listening for you guys, nothing. ?Band is flat this side of the pond. ?Only signals on 40 from Eastern and Northern Europe. ?Wispr sigs flat, spots in Norway, Czec republic and Italy. Nothing Eastbof UK...

Thanks Doug AC9RZ...could hear you most of the time. You seem to be getting out better than receive. Very noisy band up here. Must be a lot of lightning on its way. You were 3x3 in the clear.?
Also worked KC1AT and maybe W8TEE.
Static crashes, freezing rain/sleet/ice pellets occuring and persisting into this evening so much fun on my BITX40!!

Tom VE3THR thanks for your persistence. ?You have the distinction of my first contact since earning my Extra ticket 3 months ago (too much time in the salt mine, not enough in the shack).?
