Activate auto-hotspot on zBitx?

Has anyone activated the auto-hotspot feature on the zBitx and can explain how to do it? I do have VNC running and I am connected to my WiFi, but I want to be able to connect when around unknown WiFi such as on vacation where I don't know the WiFi name and password until I get there.

Is there any way you can carry a cable to connect direct to a router in where ever you are staying? ?I am an old newbie but I can connect my Bridgecom hotspot (for DMR) direct to the router in the condo we rent each winter and therefore don¡¯t have to connect through the wifi. ?When reading your email I just wondered if that was possible in this case. ?If I am way out in left field I am comfortable out there as I have been there much of my life. Ha!?

Many of the motels and condos we stay at have the router right behind the TV. So for the gurus out there is the above thought possible with the zBitX? ?Remember guys, I am a big proponent of the ¡°There are NO dumb questions in a hobby¡±. ?Please be kind. Ha!

Thanks for the reply, Dave. There is no Ethernet connection on the zBitX, only HDMI for a monitor and USB for keyboards and a mouse or whatever. The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W does have bluetooth and WiFi capability built on, though. On another project I use that and the capability to automatically create a hotspot when no known WiFi is present to be able to got into the RPi menu by connecting with a laptop or tablet (or phone, for that matter) using VNC and enter the new WiFi name and password. But I installed that capability some years ago using a now defunct program called BAP that installed those things. I am researching and should be able to do the same thing on the zBitx, but was hoping someone had already doe it and could let me know how they did it. If I figure it out first, I'll post how it was done.

I took a different approach setting up a unused cell phone as a hotspot and connecting the zbitx to it and the running the web interface from that phone.

I connect mine to Ethernet via USB to Ethernet adapter.? In Linux most drivers are already in the kernel.? So my adapter I just plugged in and had Internet no setup required. You need the monitor and keyboard initially to verify setup is indeed working.
