PC-ALE on bitx (Automatic Link Establishment)

I'm always evaluating new modes for emergency comms for our local ARES group, and one of the ones I want to better understand is ALE (automatic link establishment) --- which might benefit y'all's attempted bitx communications, by the way.
So today I hauled one of my Raduino's to work where I have a bit of time to fiddle.? ?It is one that is a standalone, configured to drive a boatanchor (EMP-proof) Heathkit SB-100, but other than that, it looks like any Bitx and is loaded with one of my sketches,
branching off from Allards excellent 1.24 version.??
To which I had added FT-857d emulation, to allow computer controlled frequency selection of the Raduino.??
I'm quite pleased to report that the PC-ALE software when told to drive a "FT-847"? (closest available choice) appears to work FINE with the stuff I wrote, and so it would appear that we would be able to drive a BitX40 just fine (on one band) and would eventually
be able to drive a uBitx on MULTIPLE bands, presuming that your antenna was capable of immediately working on each band.? ?(The latter can be done by any of several means: multiband trap or parallel dipole/ multiband vertical / auto-tuner that has memorized
settings for multiple bands, etc etc etc.)
I am attaching a file of a screen grab of the PC-ALE software installed on my windows computer and "driving"? a raduino that it thinks is a Yaesu 847 radio.? At present I have only two scan frquencies installed, but the Raduino is happily flipping back and
forth between them, sitting here on a desk before work starts.? ?
?? ? ? ?link to download the PC-ALE software.? ?You have to grab a frequency file appropriate for your part of the world and follow various directions to load it.
The PC-ALE stuff appears to need some sort of a soundcard interface, such as a Singnalink (or the $25TNC that our local ARES group has built a bunch of.....)? ?and I've used Signalinks etc many times successfully with my Bitx40''s --- just remember that
the Signalink has a dead-dc-short transformer output, so put a 1 uf capacitor in the mic lead to dc-uncouple.? ? The Signalink output relay successfully drives the relays in the Bitx40 quite well.? ?My reed-relay outputs from homebrew interfaces were not always
as successful.
Cheers!
Gordon
P.S.? And yes, this kinda stuff will go into the 3rd edition of the little book I wrote on emergency communications for hams...

Wow, thanks. I must try this. - f On 22 Dec 2017 6:02 pm, "Gordon Gibby" <ggibby@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý?Ashhar, I barely understand it, but the ubitx should work perfectly.? ?This is my first chance to start putting the new rig together and I've been working through the sketches to understand them.? ?What rig did you emulate in the CAT?? ?It looks like you
might have made it work for Yaesus??? ?If not, I can just replace your elegant routines with my crappy ones that worked fine for my very limited purposes.? ?
The bitx crew is having a tough time establishing connections with lower power -- and the ALE might help.? ?I also have your raduino driving a heathkit sb-100, which allows an EMP-proof computer controlled accurate frequency transceiver....I'm pleased as
punch.? ?
We still can't seem to order raduino's all by themselves......but I've managed to scarf up some bitx40s.? ?
Cheers, and thanks for such excellent systems for sale.? ?A huge benefit to people all over the world with lesser incomes, and huge learning going on as well.
