uBITX on 1.8 MHz


 

Does uBITX do 1.8 MHz? Yes it does. It can lead you to legal trouble though.

The good news:
So, if you spin down to 1.8 Mhz you can receive just like any other band. If you press the PTT or key out morse code, the signal is going to go out.

The bad news:
the trouble is that, at 1.8 MHz, the low pass filter used has a cut-off at 5 MHz. So, it's second and third harmonics are going out as well. The local FCC gang is not going to like it, they may send you a notice.

The fix:
Make yourself an external LPF or buy one from Hans.

received uBitx .. and started wiring works.. I found one additional 10k resistor in the box..nothing is mentioned about this in the Manual ..Pls let me know where should I use it...Thanks...?

BTW these QRP Labs LPFs are great little filters for $5 ... pretty hard to beat !?
