uBitX up and running
开云体育Working well on 20 meters. First contact went great. ? Now checked into the 20 meter OMISS net on 14.290.?73, Jim S.? N2ADV |

Excellent Video Jim, N2ADV Congratulations on your first QSO's and looking forward to get an uBITX someday soonOn Fri, Dec 15, 2017 at 2:25 PM, James Shaver (N2ADV) <N2ADV@...> wrote:

开云体育I do indeed - haven’t tried it on CW yet beyond bench tests of the key but it’s on the list. It appears there’s no “CW Mode” but when you hit the key from USB or LSB, it changes to “CW” Jim S.? On Dec 15, 2017, at 2:51 PM, Jeffrey Peters <dek9jp@...> wrote:

Thank you Jim, I will watch for more reports and any videos that might show the CW operation. On Fri, Dec 15, 2017 at 3:43 PM, James Shaver (N2ADV) <N2ADV@...> wrote:

I received mine at 11AM this morning and I made my first 40 meter contact at 1 PM and that's after eating lunch and taking a short nap. Very nice indeed. Does anybody know where the Function button wires in? Farhan talked about this button in his original video. Maybe I'm mistaken. The obligatory picture.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the push button on the encoder. 开云体育I’m not so sure about that Jack, he talked about holding the function button down while tuning to make large changes in frequency, in fact he did it on camera. Maybe the firmware has evolved beyond that now, maybe it’s not needed, but I would still like a way to change bands quickly. For the most part it works great!Joel? The earlier version used a combination of pot and function button.? This has been replaced by the rotary encoder with integral pushbutton - a much better solution. We have just one spare I/O (an analogue port)with the ubitx.? My feeling is that this is best used as an input. It could be used with resistors to detect presses on multiple buttons, similar to the way in which the CW key and paddles work.? It could also be used with a membrane keypad. You could easily have two buttons that are ‘band up’ and ‘band down’ or for that matter a separate button for each band. Use a collection of resistors of varying values between 10k and 0 ohms, ?with a different one on each button.? If you had sufficient tolerance or trimmers on each button, you could distinguish between 1024 different buttons!? Amending the sketch would be straightforward to achieve band changes.? Just set the frequency to whatever you choose on button press. I too envision adding band change buttons, along with a range of other functions e.g. CW/SSB filter selection.? You could use a bistable to close a relay or directly drive a transistor switch on button presses with the analogue input providing input to the arduino.? I just found this rather useful module to do just that: 73 Mike ZL1AXG On Wed, 20 Dec 2017 at 11:11 AM, Joel Caulkins <caulktel@...> wrote:

After looking at the latest code, I think you are right Jack. It seems the red wire is assigned as the function button and its going to the encoder switch. He must have abandoned seperate function button somewhere along the way. I think Ashhar was using a pot for tuning in the beginning and needed a separate function button. After using it this afternoon, I can get around the bands pretty quick by just turning the encoder fast. I wonder what the setup mode is, doesn't seem to do anything that I can figure out. Oh well, I'll keep learning. |
开云体育I am still adding a Tune Button as I did on BitX.? It offsets the Mixer for some RF Drive and plunks in the Xmit Relay. I am running out of panel space, the Key Jack is going on the back.? I also have a switch back there to turn Off the PA Voltage. I am mostly in Receive
mode, don't want to worry about Transmitting or SWR. 73's Mike, WA6ISP On 12/19/2017 2:39 PM, Mike Woods

开云体育It is brown wire pin 6
on the connector of Raduino and connects to Bump Switch on
