I have my (first) BITX40 and the case (actually two for some unknown reason) arrived the other day. I have yet to hay-wire it together so I can play with it (hopefully today) but I'm trying to do some planning for the case. With all of the various mods available, how many push-buttons should I plan on for on the front of the case?

I would recommend three right off the bat. You'll need one for push-to-talk. I strongly recommend just doing the galloping VFO fix with +/- tune buttons right away. Tuning the BITX 40 can be tricky and cumbersome with the stock tuning method.? If you plan to do the rotary encoder mod, however, then you might leave those two holes out and live with it for now.? I don't have a PC so my bitx 40's dds is how I got itAh I see... Isn't there a fellow ham in your neighbourhood with a PC who could install the latest software for you? It would allow you to extend the tuning range plus it will enable many other features such as dual VFO, RIT, CW, etc. 73 Allard PE1NWL |
