Ordered my v5 ubitx today, case delivery tomorrow!
David Wilcox
开云体育Another interesting side note:Had a defective item and Amazon put another in the mail same day. With Prime it CAME IN TWO DAYS....SUNDAY!!!! ?And gave me 30 days to return the defective unit. ?Yes, I pay for Prime but it’s worth every dollar. The delivery van had a sticker on the door stating USPS Rural Delivery. ?I am not rural. I thanked the local Postmaster and she didn’t even know about the Sunday service. The item was just a high quality iron (yes, my wife of 45 years still knows how to use one), not a medical emergency item. Dave K8WPE David J. Some of these outfits are fast shipping. I ordered some of the relays from Arrow yesterday with free shipping and they showed up this morning via FedX Priority! ... and the prices were cheapest of the major suppliers! With the internet it’s a lot easier to find parts. In the “old” days you had to go to the local radio parts supplier and they would order it for you then it would never come in !!
Best place I ever found for electronics parts was Akihabra in Tokyo. Store after store full of every part you would ever want!! |
开云体育I'd like some feedback on the case kits for uBitx from?amateurradiokits.in.They look nice, and appear to come with the USB/DB9 board, a bunch of parts, and when combined with a standard uBitx board set from HFsignals, what else need be supplied? Are connection instructions included for rear connector board? From my quick review, the only thing I'd need to supply would be solder and an SO-239 socket, correct? Thanks in advance, Ken, N2VIP On Mar 11, 2019, at 10:03 AM, Brutus Laurentius <markhamfarm14@...> wrote:

Mine came with the SO239 socket for the rear of the unit.

Instructions are mostly available on line but its intuitive. No clear written instructions that I could find at the time. I went by pictures. The little PC board they provide to connect the fuse and switch etc. is a nice touch. Its really good value for money. The Pictures I referenced are attached. only down side would be modifying one for a different display. Too bad they can't figure out how to semi punch (on the back side of the front panel) outlines for multiple displays snap-outs. But then this IS for the HFSignals radio as shipped. MRM -----Original Message-----

Different front panels are available for order to swap out. I ordered my case with both the standard front panel as well as one for the Nextion 2.8" display. That way I could save shipping later for the second panel.
Everything you need is included. No instructions required, the photos on the included CD were fine. BTW I wanted Siemens Grey but it was out of stock. I asked them to substitute the standard Grey and it is sweet! Brian W1AC |

Just got the ubitx case today, as per tracking... AND, according to PayPal I received a shipping notice with tracking number from HFsignals.com last night... oh my!? I am ecstatic.? That means my Nextion Display will get here from Banggod after I have built the radio... lol. (3.5 display) Just wanted to report things, off to inspect and verify the kit.

I am using same case. Please note the interconnecting wires, with the specific mating connectors, are a useful add on to purchase.
See ubitx.com website hosted by Sunil for a growing set of instructions on assembly into this case, and I remember a helpful video. Wiring for that back panel connector are user provided. Mine isn't even installed yet, and some I have no clue that I need them. Maybe I will. I do plan to implement CAT, and maybe a homebrew soundcard interface, but other features are to be done first. I have added agc, may install an adjustable nescaf audio filter inside. Enjoy your build. Curt |

The Post Office works well too! I am in Canada and opted to use postal delivery. My uBitX was shipped on 23 Feb and I received it yesterday (Monday) 11 Mar. Very good compared with the month or so that I have learned to expect from buying small parts from China. Thanks, India Post!! Now to stop planning and start building HI.

Yes, Martin I intend to dry fit the chassis parts tomorrow; the shack is not completely built, so I cant run in there to inspect everything. However I am going to have the time tomorrow, and space in the old shack to at least during the day it will be warm...(no ac or heat in old shack).? Its a work in progress in all respects.

I recently bought their case for a new V5 uBitx as well as a case upgrade for my Bitx40. They are indeed quite nice and the included extras simplify the wiring greatly. I also like not having to scrounge for knobs and such. A note, the main power connector for the back panel which came with the case for the uBitx was too loose, not sure if I overheated it or if it was faulty. You might double-check to save having to change it out. On the mildly amusing side, the 2 cases were ordered at the same time, took different routes with one going east through Brussels and one west to Hong Kong, and finally both were delivered to Texas on the same day with the same delivery timestamp.

Awesome! Yes I am excited! A CD came with it, and I expect that to be software. My laptop is at church where I pastor, I left it there to do sermons... looks like I'm bringing it home to see what's on that disk. I actually use a raspberry? pi as my home computer. No external CD rom drive...lol
