JackAl add-on Info wanted.
#ubitx
I think info is here but I could not find it using search.? Sorry if this bugs somebody.?? I think there was a link to where the JackAl add-on will be sold when ready and a link to the documentation. Oh, maybe my old brain imagined it....? This project might help me get through a cold Wisconsin winter.

The JackAl board just went through testing of version 6 of the PCB and we're finally satisfied that it's "solid". We have sent the Gerber and BOM files out for quotes as we intended to sell the board as a "semi-kit", with all the SMD devices in place. Even with the SMD's in place, we consider it to be an "intermediate to advanced" kit. The US distributor for the board will be QRP Guys. The manual is in rough shape right now, but should be available for download in a few weeks. We are posting the info about JackAl on our web site, hamradiodesigns.com. The most recent screen shot we have of the TFT touch screen display is: The shot above shows the ?BITX listening on 7.045.960 in the CW mode, using the 300Hz CW filter, with CW decoding activated (CODR button) and the text scrolling along the bottom. The JackAl board features: 5¡± or 7¡± TFT Touch Screen 800x480 TFT Color Display ($34-$44) Dual VFO RIT S Meter 50 CW Preset Messages, selectable at runtime Touch Screen Band Selection Touch Screen Buttons for function selection and control Dual Encoders: Frequency Tuning, ALS Tuning, Program Input Frequency Tuning: Standard and ALS Tuning ALS Tuning: Special tuning using the second encoder. If the frequency increment is set to 1KHz, ??? ????????ALS Tuning sets the second encoder to one-tenth the increment of the primary tuning ??? ????????rate. This allows for rapid tuning to an approximate frequency using the main encoder ??? ????????and then using ALS Tuning with the second encoder to fine tune the signal. Filter Selection: ?? ?CW presets (3dB bandwidth): 150 Hz, 300 Hz, 400 Hz, 600 Hz ?? ?SSB presets (3dB bandwidth): 1500 Hz, 1800 Hz , 2200 Hz, 3000 Hz EEprom storage of user preferences and CW code presets 3 external hardware buttons for CW code messages (e.g., contest exchanges) Based on Teensy 3.6 Microcontroller with Audio Shield ($30 and $14) Hardware AGC using IF take-off Mic Compressor with adjustable threshold Mic 8-band equalization Receive Audio Filter 48 dB/octave (8 pole equivalent DSP filters) 2 Variable bandwidth software filters with user-defined knee frequencies Audio AGC with adjustable threshold Variable Notch filter, encoder adjustable, user-specified Q CW code to Text converter Code Practice Oscillator Mode About a dozen I/O pins to play with plus 800K of free flash memory, 200K of free SRAM, all clocked at 180MHz (The prices in parentheses are the parts the user has to purchase on their own.) More information will be available soon on our web site. Alas, we don't have a price yet because we don't know what the manufacturing costs will be. Jack, W8TEE Al, AC8GY

Hi Lee: I have not seen one. For our development, we made a 30 degree slanted (it doesn't show well) front out of Lexan as seen here: When we are done, we think we will create a thin plastic front panel (the Lexan is too thick for the jacks and requires "double-drilling" with a forstner bit) with no slant and fit a Lexan U-shaped cover for it so people can "see inside". Lots of different options. Jack, W8TEE

Thanks to all for the info.?? Just ordered the? 7" and the teensy and sound board to be ready. Has anybody found a nice slope front case for it? -- Lee - N9LO? "I Void Warranties" ? |

We're getting really close. We have 4 bids in as the result of our RFQ. Might even make it in time for Christmas! Jack, W8TEE

I don't speak Tonganese, but Google does... there are over 5,000 results for the term "Calibtation," so obviously the long awaited JackAI board is doing something right.? And, as everyone knows, if you can read it from a Google search, it must be true. Right? 73's Ben - K6QV |
