Any Gerber Experts Round Here? #kicad #ubitx

I'm trying to use the free trial of Gerbview to convert an RS-274D Gerber file to an RS-274X... but I'm a tad lost in the details of doing so - as I'm not experienced at this. I've already paid for a board at a Chinese firm, and even though the money is already spent, I'm currently not getting anything for it!

Anyone here willing to help? Or point me to where I can get some help? (And while free is great, I'm not unwilling to pay...)

73 Ben Holmes, K6QV

P.S. How 'bout a free PCB for the help?? I'm looking to build this: /g/BITX20/message/54034

Yes... but look at how much fun I'll have!

Provided someone here can help me figure this out!

I've had some luck with hiring on fiverr.com for totally unrelated small tasks.? Might be worth seeing what you can find searching "convert gerber".? Contact anyone that has a listing close to what you need and see what they say.

You might find this amusing, but I already did this... and Fiverr responded with the following:

Unfortunately, your Gig request "Gerber Files... Convert RS-274D to..." did not pass our review.

It was misleading or unclear. Please explain, in a clear way, what service you need.

Repeating these violations can result in your account being restricted.

try messaging sellers direct instead of posting a job

Garbage in, garbage out.
And when fabbing PC boards, you really don't want garbage.
This world has way to many coffee mug coasters already. .

A local software tool such as Gerbv or GerbView will allow you to preview the files and see what's wrong.

You might also look over OshPark, they have a great front end for ordering boards.
? ??https://docs.oshpark.com/submitting-orders/preorder-checklist/
They give a good rendering of exactly what the board will look like before you enter your credit card number and pull the trigger.
If you can get it to where the board passes their checks and looks right, you have a good chance of getting back a usable board.

Found the issue with the 'D' files...converted them...ran the X files thru FreeDFM with good results.
I think we can color this one done.

Just received one of the boards that Ben had fabricated from the files I converted from RS274D to RS274X a few months back.? The PCB quality is outstanding.?
There was no money involved.? I did not ask for any compensation of any kind....including the raw board that Ben volunteered.?? It is so much more rewarding to be
a doer.

I am available for hire...just not for amateur radio projects.

Congratulations. Would you be willing to share the gerber files that were converted?

Public apologies to Art... I didn't see this until today!
Must be getting senile! Sent the files to Art ...

I know that this is an old thread, but it was never clear exactly what the files being converted were for...was this a conversion of the posted M0HYT thru-hole uBitx gerber files?

From the tone of the posts, it sounds very similar to the problems I ran into when trying to get the M0HYT boards fabricated at a PCB vendor.

All the vendors I tried said that there was a problem with the drill definitions.

If these are the files for the M0HYT uBitx, was any thought given to posting them to the files area here so that others could take advantage of the converted gerber files?

I for one would really appreciate getting my hands on gerbers for the M0HYT thru-hole uBitx that are acceptable to the PCB vendors in China.

Thanks and 73,

Tom - N8TPN

Wack me upside the head, should have thought of that ... I've uploaded the files I got... I cannot vouch that it makes a functioning uBitx, I can only vouch that a Chinese vendor used the files and sent me PCB boards.

Wack me again... (haven't finished my coffee!) ... it's in the files section here in a subfolder 'K6QV'

Many Thanks Ben!

Hi Ben,

? ?Thank you for the file upload!? I played a bit with the drill files to see if OSHPark can use the files.? The good news is that their tool list editing tips show us how to combine the two drill files into one.? The other news is that OSHPark's import tool is stopped because the file set doesn't include a board outline file.? Oh well, wanted to give it a shot.
