Cool.
I was able to connect the headphone output of my USB sound adaptor direct to the microphone input and volume control gnd to high side direct to the USB sound adaptor microphone input. I'm only running WSPR at the moment and I found the best level adjustment to be around -12 to -15 DB. The input is just on the high edge of being correct, so I may add a restive divider on the volume control connection to drop the receive signal some.?
I used a light bulb as a dummy load and adjusted the audio drive until the bulbs did not increase in brightness, then backed down the level (and brightness some). Also, monitored the spurs with my SDR and backed down the drive until the spurs created by overdrive went away. This happened at the same point as the light bulb method for adjusting the power.
I use a Raspberry Pi also, but connect via the Pi remote desktop from my laptop or iPhone. Are you running any special software to control the radio with the 7" display?
Are you running only WSJT-X? I'll add fldigi again, but my first attempt at running both fldigi and WSJT-X on the Pi, I installed fldigi first and was only able to get fldigi to work. WSJT-X would not find the sound adaptor. Seems they use different sound libraries. So, I'll clone the working SD card I now have running WSJT-X and try again. With a working backup to revert to until I get both to work.
