Maximum DC input voltage?

1. ?What is the maximum DC input voltage for the current production uBitx? ?(includes the stable Audio Amp chip).?

2. ?What are the limiting devices?

3. ?What would result by Powering the uBitx with 14.8vdc?

Thanks Jack

If your unit has one of the

If your ubitx has one of the questionable audio amplifier ICs I would be wary of using a voltage higher than about 12.5.
Most ham gear is meant to be used with "12V" supplies that give as much as 13.8V, as that is typical of the voltage in
a vehicle with a nominal 12V battery when the battery is being charged.
For my ubitx I noted I had one of the questionable audio amp ICs and rather than risk blowing it up I made sure my
nominal 12V supply was adjusted to give me no more than 12.5V. Not all power supplies provide for adjustment or
are regulated well enough not to provide excessive voltage under a light load.

I'm taking the approach of a mod to the board to limit voltage to the audio amp to 8V. (3 terminal regulator lm7808).
One cut in the right place and mount it to the back of the board.? Then the amp is no longer a worry.

The rest is either able to take much more or already protected by voltage regulation.? I see no problem at all with?
16.8V (4s2p Lion battery at full charge).
