Can the mic and PTT switch share a ground? #bitx40help #parts

 

I haven't gotten mine in the mail yet, but I'm getting my little handheld mic ready to build, and my Easy-Digi interface is about to arrive.

What I'd like to do is have a 3.5mm TRS jack for the mic input on the radio; tip for audio in, ring for PTT, and both sharing the sleeve for ground. This way I can just put corresponding 3.5mm jacks on the mic box and on my Easy-Digi unit. Will this cause... unfortunate things to happen?
