Extension cables for display/Raduino

w2ttt

Hi Folks!

Does anyone have some links to the display/ Raduino extension cable parts?
I want to remote the display from the main board.

Gordon?

Use standard DuPont cables.? They come in 10cm, 20cm and 30cm lengths x 40 wires joined together with rainbow (actually resistor colour code) wires.?

You can use similar pugs and sockets and wire them yourself according to the length you require.

I extended my BITX40 DDS using female to female jumpers.? I later reduced the wire count using the schematic shows what's needed for the display connections
hope this helps

All:

These jumper wires (aka Dupont wires) are great for breadboarding and experimenting, but my experience is that some of them don't make a solid connection after recycling (connect/disconnect) a few times. We were getting a lot of noise on a TFT display line and finally tracked it to a faulty Dupont. The Chinese imports seem especially susceptible. If you experience noise or hashing on a display or in the audio, this would be one of the first places I'd look.

ATA Hard Drive cables. How many hundreds in the junkbox? Just use one row. With care, the plugs are re-usable.

Yes - i agree - Dupont jumpers are meant for hacking.? Good to make a point then make permanent.? To this day my BITX40 as pictured is still in use on plywood breadboard.? ? Works fine, last long time Hi

Also see this article:? /g/BITX20/topic/7573243
It includes a link to a nice article (PDF) by Al Duncan VE3RRD showing how to make an extension cable from an old computer IDE cable (flat ribbon cable).
