UBitX Transmit Problem Fixed

Guy N7BIR

Jerry,
Thanks so much for your expertise and guidance. ?I ended up replacing Q90 and R84 on my uBitX. I’m now lighting up my ?Elecraft SWR meter again!
We’re really blessed on this List to have guys like you and Jack and all the others who are really adept in hardware and software to offer your guidance and knowledge. Thanks again,

Guy N7BIR?

Interesting that you managed to blow Q90.
Exactly how did you go about it?

From post??/g/BITX20/message/44372
? Was it plugged into an antenna?
? If so, an electrical storm, or QRO ops on a nearby antenna could have blown Q90.
? Happened often enough on the Bitx40, but I don't recall any reports of this on the uBitx.

Here's a post in an old discussion of whether the uBitx needs protection for Q90.

Conclusion was probably not.? May need to rethink that.

All I know is I wasn’t getting the correct voltages on Q90. It was 0 volts dc on all three pins. I was also losing the transmit dc in the vicinity of R84. So I replaced them both. Yeah, I know, kind of a shotgun approach but it brought it back.?
