#ubitx - Off Topic a Litte #ubitx

Jeffrey Peters

Greetings,?? I have a question for this group.? I would like to use my uBitx as a receiver with my vintage transmitters.? The transmitters are tube type with power output ranging from 5-7 watts to 50-70 watts.? I currently have a MFJ-1708 Electronic T/R switch which has worked very well with all tube Drake 2B receiver.? My questions are:? What would be the best protection circuit or front end device to protect the uBitx as the receiver?? I would like to use the uBitx with a separate tube type vintage transmitter??? Your excellent electronic skills and knowledge will be most helpful.? I look forward to your thoughts and/or suggestions on this matter.

I'm planning something similar, using the ?B for TX and SDR for RX.? I'm going to try one of these in the box.

Thanks Arvo,

I have the older version 2 unit.? I wonder about isolation from TX RF bleed though or bleed over?? I just want to do my best to protect the uBitx.
I know tube are much more forgiving, in my personal limited experience.

I will have my uBitx in a metal case,so maybe just making an adapter with a dead short at the antenna connection during transmit will be a good solution.

Thank you, Jeff K9JP

Jeffrey Peters-

Switching TX and RX?

The Coaxial change over relay or just Coaxial Relay has no problems, it is either in
RX or in TX.

CX-230 SPDT with 3 X BNC RF connectors is one example. ?
