Back in msg #103870 Gordon Gibby talked about relay noise in the DE. I think as part of the effort to reduce the risk to the finals, a workaround was implemented to switch the LPFs every time the key is pressed (to have them absorb some transient energy). On the DE, the LPFs are switched with relays, but it should only happen when changing bands. Hearing them switch with every dit and dah just seems wrong, when the radio is so close to having electronic breakin.
Gordon identified the fix in his message. Even in JJ's latest 64 bit build I can still open sbitx.c and make the changes at line #1400 and #1402, and restore electronic breakin. My question is: Given all the later mods made since the sbitx DE original PA design, is that old workaround of switching the LPFs still necessary?
