sBitx v3 on CW
Hi folks,
Would anyone be willing to make a short video of his sBITX v3 operating on CW. I am interested in how it works when it is keyed from iambic paddle at standard speeds of 20-30wpm. Nothing on YT available except Farhan's few dots and dashes in his intro... The most important is to know how the T/R switching is actually working, if QSK works on CW and if the first element is not cut or distorted please? Thanks for help, Petr? |
Petr, I haven't listened to myself on a web sdr, and I don't have THAT much experience at it, but in the recent weeks while at my vacation home I had it running using just an iambic paddle and using the internal electronic keyer.? ?At speeds in the 20-25 wpm range.? ?I was very pleasantly surprised how well it works now!? ?My own external keyer was giving me fits because its relay had failed and my solid state circuit to replace it needs just a bit of tweaking -- it was MY external circuit that was now shortening dots!? ? The internal keyer of the sBitx was now clearly the superior one and I happily used it.? ?The full break in is not fast enough?to come in between dots and dashes, likely due to the latency of the FFT sections of the code, but I set the CW delay?in the 100-200 millisecond range and I'm very happy with that.? ?I can hear between letters at my 20-ish speed without any problem.? ?I think itt would also be fine at 30.? ? I am very busy and perhaps someone else can do the youtube or I might get to it after all my other effots, but I have been quite happy with it.? ?The CW decoding has also been significantly improved, and is now better than FLDGI.? ? For very fast machine-like code it is better than me;? for code where I can still copy (up to 25-30 wpm) I am still better because I handle QSB etc better than the software, but it is quite impressive.? ? I hoipe this helps.? ?The sBitx is far more fun to work CW on....than the Icom 7300.? ?Gordon KX4Z On Thu, Mar 21, 2024 at 12:25?PM Petr Ourednik <indians@...> wrote: Hi folks, |
Gordon,
many thanks for detailed info. I asked for it as few owners reported cutting first CW element because of long T/R switching time in V3. I did not find any video where someone would be able to show standard CW keying at normal speed of 25-30wpm. If the CW delay is possible to set, then it would be interesting to know how low it could be set...? Anyway, many thanks for help Gordon. Petr |
