Re: Allard's Version 1.113
Hi David,

which version? v1.13? or the latest release v1.14? Here are the compilation results that you should normally get: for v1.13: Sketch uses 26886 bytes (87%) of program storage space. Maximum is 30720 bytes. Global variables use 1521 bytes (74%) of dynamic memory, leaving 527 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes. For v1.14: Sketch uses 26100 bytes (84%) of program storage space. Maximum is 30720 bytes. Global variables use 1502 bytes (73%) of dynamic memory, leaving 546 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes. 73 Allard PE1NWL On Wed, June 7, 2017 04:34, bigdswitzer wrote:

Re: VU2ESE Agc circuit
Hey Peter,
I will check it out. For the vu2ese one I was putting it just before the speaker, I guess it should be before the volume pot. The way I have looked at it they both seem to stick a big resistance right in the audio path. Thanks for the reply. With all the soldering and unsoldering i do worry about how much lead is getting into my brain though... could explain some of my not getting it, I guess. Jer AA1OF |

Nagaraj, This is a SSB transmitter.? SSB does not have a carrier.? You need to say aaaaahhhhh, whistle, or use an audio generator to put some sound into the mic to create the carrier. ? Hope that helps, Marco - KG5PRT? On Jun 6, 2017 11:26 PM, "Nagaraj ganjigunte" <vu2gnr@...> wrote:

Re: No TX?
My first thought is to double check that the black wire is soldered to the mics negative contact with the three traces to the shell. If correct, check the supplied hook up wires for continuity. Test the boards mic connector for about, I think 3 volts signal. If all that is good, then it's the mic capsule, or something worse. If it's worse, the big kids will have to help you.

Re: No TX?
Hello all, I am also facing the similar situation, When i modulate nearly 900ma, idling current ?150ma, but when connected to ant for testing no deflection in my SWR bridge Power indicator. Kindly suggest how to check? de? VU2GNR ?Nagaraj? Thanks & Regards, de VU2GNR Nagaraj On Wed, Jun 7, 2017 at 8:16 AM, <matt.benteman@...> wrote: Hello Group! |
Re: Europe to States BitX QSO
Thanks Paul, I doubt that they were the first Trans Atlantic BITX/BITX QSOs But they could be, especially the SSB contact. Andy said he could have copied me if I were running 1 Watt He has some good antennas 73. Willy W1LY On Tue, Jun 6, 2017 at 11:55 PM, KC8WBK via Groups.Io <cruisenewsnet@...> wrote: Congratulations! |
Re: No sound
Don't give up that easily OM! Snap a pic of your rig and we can look for the issue. Do you have any test equipment? Know someone close to you who could help trouble shoot? Think how satisfying it will be when you get it fixed!

Did this and still it even a hint of sound. Tried a different speaker too that I know works. Frustrating.... |
Re: Europe to States BitX QSO
Andy 9A3JH and I had a BitX40/ BitX40 QSO on CW 7.032 tonight 339/579 and then moved to SSB on 7.167 Reports were 33/44 on SSB. What thrill to work bitx to bitx over the pond. Croatia to Rhode Island 4094 miles, 6589km with QRP power. I have to thank Andy and his phased verticals for doing the heavy lifting. 73 Willy W1LY |
Re: IRF510- Temporary replacement?
Looks like the Drain and Gate are reversed, but that's easy enough to resolve. Shall I just solder it in and give it a try? Or will I need to change R136 and/or RV1? Thanks a lot. This is a learning experience for me for sure :)

No TX?
Hello Group!
Newbie here - Just finished assembly of the bitx40 last weekend. Powered up with what appears to be good RX. I have tried to make several contacts now with no luck (I do realize that this is a QRP transceiver). I checked amp draw per the instructions. At receive, the transceiver is drawing around 150 mA. When I push the PTT, it appears to draw around 350-380 mA. However, when I speak into the mic, I don't get any additional current draw (a 1 amp jump is described in the instructions). Additionally, I tried to verify any voice transmit via a separate radio tuned to the same frequency, It appears to break squelch - but no voice is transmitted. I am looking for some help as to the next step in troubleshooting. I don't have a dummy load or an SWR meter at this point (mine is integral to my current rig), but they are certainly not out of my reach financially if that is what is needed. All Apologies if I've somehow missed some resource that is already present, towards resolving this issue. Thanks in advance for the help! Matt |
Re: Low mic gain and rf power
I also had low mic input on both bitx40 that i built. No more yelling in the mic. Joe On Tue, Jun 6, 2017, 10:35 PM Jerry Gaffke via Groups.Io <jgaffke=[email protected]> wrote: The microphone amp is driving a very low impedance load, won't see much voltage gain? |
Re: Coils and caps
The said capacitor cleans up the POTs viper created noise and filters any induced RF signals on the wires that go from pot to raduino. ?The cap doesn't do any tuning .On Wed, Jun 7, 2017 at 12:45 AM, <daniel.rahn@...> wrote: Craig, --

Re: Calling West Coast BITX operators
I wonder if the folks in the Portland/Vancouver area would be interested in getting together... I've been trying to figure out how to gather together some other QRP and builder types (bitx40 or not) in this area to help each other, swap parts, talk about projects etc... if anyone is interested, let me know and we will figure out how to put something together. 73 de bill
