Re: Autotuner for BitX40
Autotuners are relatively expensive,? but that doesn't mean they aren't worthwhile. Most autotuners must handle at least 100W, which requires larger current handling capabilities, so that alone makes

Help Needed downloading new uBitx software on Mac
I am using a iMac with system 10.12.6 and cannot get a download due to not having any serial ports shown up in the IDE except for

Re: uBit Encoder
Vince,
A year or so ago I modified a VFO sketch to use pin change interrupts because the NANO Experimenters Board from the PHSNA group had the external interrupt pins (D3 & D3) hard wired to the

Re: uBit Encoder
Not really. Pin interrupts use the attachInterrupt() function which simply puts a wrapper around the messy details that requires using bit masks. External interrupts have their own interrupt vectors.

Re: Autotuner for BitX40
Stay with a resonant 40m antenna and avoid the tuner. There are many qrp tuners out there in kit form or built. Auto tuners cost about twice or more the price of a Bitx40. Look at

Re: uBit Encoder
I did a cb-to-10 conversion a while back and used a 400 P/R encoder that I used pin change interrupts with. Worked fine and I didn't have to add another library to the project. I wouldn't hesitate

Cut open an old printer USB cable if you have one lying around. It is 4 wire shielded.

Re: uBit Encoder
Jack,
Is there a reason to avoid using pin change interrupts with an encoder? It seems no one uses this method in lieu of polling.

Re: U1 fried
On the other hand, a resistor in there limiting voice peaks?
might be useful as a simple form of AGC.
A loud signal coming in will distort, but probably won't make you go deaf.

Re: U1 fried
Maybe not a good idea to just add a dropping resistor to the TDA2822 supply.
Quiescent current with no incoming signal on the TDA2822 is around 9ma,
and increases to nearly 1 Amp on audio peaks (I
