Re: Common heatsink for IRD510's

That was my gut feeling, figured I'd best back it up somehow.
Let's assume the IRF510's tab is 1/2" by 1/2", the insulating material is 0.003" thick,
and the relatively permitivity of that insulator

Mike
You should be able to see this in the gallery now ... at the bottom of the list.
I am still trying to figure out how to get these alpha order by callsign!

Re: Custom Graphics help for S-Meter
Hello Vic,
It could be a casting issue. Just in case see the definitions below of the special characters arrays in the uBitx software. The S meter bars using re-defined characters work fine on my

Re: Common heatsink for IRD510's

Not a problem.
Impedance from drain to ground is quite low, my guess is the push-pull output transformer gives it 12.5 ohms
because the center of the primary is effectively at ground.? (Some push

Re: Common heatsink for IRD510's

Surefire way to reduce any chance of that would be to bond the heatsink well to RF ground on the board.

Common heatsink for IRD510's
#ubitx
This may have been answered already. The mounting tab on the IRF510 is internally connected to the DRAIN which is the output of the transistor (connected to the output transformer). Therefore would it

Re: How to test speaker resistance
A speaker, an L/C circuit, and a spring are all very much the same as
far as resonance. Even a pendulum has some resemblance to a resonant
circuit in how it responds to a step function.

With no relays energized as shown in the uBitx schematic,
RF power from the finals goes through KT1-14 to the 30m lowpass filter then through KT1-3 out to the antenna.
That's as short as it can

Jerry,
Thanks for the reply. Can you explain how this bandswitch method affects
the length of the traces on the upper bands?
Thanks

Re: Source of small gauge shielded audio wire for a filter

You might check Amazon as well. They have multi conductor (from 2 on up) 26 and 28 gauge shielded guitar control cable available in various lengths from 1 meter up. I happened to see some there when

Re: Source of small gauge shielded audio wire for a filter

Have you tried RG174? It's RF, not audio cable, but is thin, shielded and should work just fine. Finding a small length might be a problem though.

This wiring scheme is often used for bandswitching relays, keeps the traces short as possible for the upper bands.
