Why not an external board that takes RF inputs RF out to connector and has Relay for TR, the four filters 4 more relays for switching and accepts? the Raduino signals needed: TX-V+? to signal transmit receive and DC to relays TX-A, TX-B,TX-C? (filter select) FYI if those three filter selects could be encoded for 3:8 filter selection or 2:4 decode for filter selection? Its a minor code change in the Raduino? to do that.? ?Other schemes are possible as well. Tt be bold and suggest...? ?Make the board the width of the uBitx and? the right half is the filters and the left has a set of four or more filters to insert between T2 and the power amp path to replace the 9section low pass used.? That would help the harmonic issue and fix the spur issue. The only issue is that as a single board there must be no shared ground plane and any shared ground or control signals be isolated for rf. I've been looking at the AA-30.ZERO every since it came out and am quite interested in it. It will be interesting to see where this thread goes. I too am thinking a Nextion display would be a nice addition to it.

I usually prefer the P-FET solution - prices have come down for these, around a buck per P-FET. No fuse to replace (if you're 'wrong') and nearly no voltage drop (when correctly connected). Also: consider Power Poles. Using Power Poles makes it *very* hard to mal-connect. Mike Yancey, KM5Z |

I got this AA-30.ZERO bcoz I supposed that I could measure inductance of coils. If the uBitX¡¯s spurious issue won¡¯t go as most of us expecting, I am thinking of mod to switch its LPF coils for ?a single band transceiver. 1) The simplest solution I can think of is a small board, about the size of the existing 4 LPFs with a rotary 2P 6T switch (Mouser or about $2 on eBay, etc) to select the specific LPF. Wired to the IN and OUT points on the board with RG-174 .....and all existing board wiring isolated. Use the existing components to rebuild the 4 LPFs (Possibly eliminate the 60m capability and improve the 80m response) on the new board.?? 2) A more expensive solution would be to just bypass everything from T11 to K3 and run those coax cables to the outside where there is a manually switched set of LPFs (might be 5 or 6 LPFs......your design or ?) 3 An even more expensive solution would be #2 with automatic band selection, relay switching, etc. What think you ? 73 Kees K5BCQ?? |

When I was working part of my job was the calibration of instruments for a company that made polyester material. We had equipment that was sent off on a schedule to check it met standards.? Our on line instruments were verified by those. You have to know the limitations of the equipment.? I had a good discussion with a production engineer on this.? He cold not understand why the computer readout that was showing 3 decimal places of temperature at about 300 deg C was off by 2 whole numbers.? All this was coming from a probe that had 2 RTDs and 2 thermocouples? in the same 1/2 inch tube.? He wanted to know which one was correct.? I told him to take his choice as they all were.? The TC and rtd were only rated at 2 deg C at that temperature by the makers.? Then each went through a sending unit? that was calibrated to 1/2 of a percent or less, then to the computer unit that had about the same error.? When all the errors were added together we were lucky to get with in 1 % , mostly 2 %.? However we could read to 3 decimal places. The whole point is that with most parts used in the uBITX and other ham grade equipment is only 5 % or maybe even less, it is pointless to measure a filter cutoff at 12 MHz to within a couple of cycles or a db down.? You may be able to build one that way, but not mass produce them. I found the filter in my uBITX was too sharp for me and the audio quality on transmit was not what I wanted.? I Changed the capacitors in the filter area? with some standard components.? To Bill G6ATO & John N3ODE. Well said! I probably had more enjoyment building a snazzy enclosure than possibly anything I can remember. Just built the V4 ubitx and yes the rx audio is horrible to say the least, but it works!! It appears to work better at night which suggests to me that it may be the ubitx does require a better than average antenna to unleash it's potential. At the moment I use a folded dipole, 12 metres long and very low, about 7 m running down to about 4m no tuner no balun and centre fed with co-ax. And I've managed 1500 miles in the early evening with my other 2 watter. By the by, my thanks to Dave G4ADY for suggesting a firmware update for keying problems, worked a treat! 73 to everyone Paul M6FEU
