Re: ubitx 40 Connecdtion

Just got the BITX40 today. I had the uBitx before and sold it to
a man who wanted to run digital. It was a dream to put together,
no problem whatsoever.

But the picture on the wire-up page for the BITX40 does not
show the same thing for the Raduino that I got today. I do not
want to assume too much but it seems the 5-pin connector
plugs into the 16-pin connector but it's not clear if it's to be
put in on one or the other end. The 16-pin connector is
labeled P3. Off to one end of the board is U3 which is a
3-pin regulator, it seems. I think I know where the 5-pin
connector goes but want to make sure...

Bob,
?BITX and BITX40 are different radios.? Which
do you have?

Thank you Steve.? Setting keyer to "hand key" did the trick.? Good that I did that before trying to rewrite the code.

ubitx 40 Connecdtion

Got a new uBitx 40 and have a question about connecting it up.

Connecting up the Raduino, it says to plug in the 5-pin connector.
I see the 8-pin connector so no problem. But no 5-pin connector.
Does this mean that the 5-pin connector plugs into the 16-pin
connector? And if so, does it go i any particular way?

Hope someone can provide a better picture of the connections
to the Raduino. I suspect it is a different version from what is
show on the website for connecting the Raduino.

Don't want to krispy-fritter the Raduino so I'm going slow on this.

Also, I ordered the 10-turn pot for the tuning. Had a nut but no
lock-washer. Just a heads-up.

See if you have sidetone when using cw. If you don't have a key, you still need that external 4.7k resistor anyway. Then put a short across the key input to listen for sidetone audio. If none, possibly the audio amp ic is defective, a common v3 malady I am told. Also you can inject audio into its input to see if this is the issue.

If this is the problem, I would be so tempted to not repair it, but use another audio amp board. V3 folk can chime in, or search here for v3 audio.

Re: Need Help Troubleshooting UBit-X #ubitx-help

I will be following with interest.??

I managed to trust the connector wiring of the power wire loom, and should have not, as it had power and ground reversed at the connector, and I shot reverse polarity into the works.? Transmit works, Raduino Works, but no audio.??

Hopefully I will be able to repair.? It is gonna push my sight, eye-hand coordination, and desoldering/soldering skills to replace SMDs, but I'm game for a good try.??

Need Help Troubleshooting UBit-X #ubitx-help

Hi Group:

I am getting no audio out of my ubitX and have tried the suggestions posted here in another string.

1)? RX has +12V at R18 & R38.

2) TX is low at R28 and R40

3)? I have tried SPH out direct to an 8 h\ohm speaker with no results

4)? I M1 to Vol-M with no results.

I have checked voltage to the TDA8222 chip and VCC is present.

Still, no audio whatsoever.

I have the uBit-X schematic, and have a scope, signal generator and signal tracer, and am wondering if test point voltages and wave forms might be posted somewhere??

Has any collected this information and where I can access it?

Thanks in advance.

I got excited and damaged my pre-arduino VFO but managed to do what this cat does here. Get an Arduino (or whatever micro-controller) and this si5351 card all for less than $20 shipped if you try hard enough. It worked well until I operated in a thunderstorm. Don¡¯t ask. I¡¯m doing another with an Arduino Nano and adafruits version

Hi Tom, et. all,

Nice project, Bob...

I am rebuilding my homebrew amplifier (I use it with my K2) and would very much like to incorporate auto filter selection.??

I have 7 filters rather than 5, so would need to add 2 more output? lines.?
Also, an additional output would be great to enable the amplifier a few 10s of msec after filter relay output is stable -? to avoid hot switching.

Is there any more detailed information about the circuit / schematic?? ...Pinouts, etc.

It has been many decades since my last C programming and I am really rusty (so rusty the brain is seized) also I am Arduino ignorant.?? But, from looking at the code, it appears these might be do-able, just not sure.

Would like to get more info...? My email is good at qrz.com...
Thanks,
Woody?? KZ4AK

Re: atenuator

Thanks for the link

Re: atenuator

Yes, attenuates signals on receive by positioning them on the skirt of the 45mhz crystal filter.
Might also be used for SSB transmit ALC if you are into that.
Idea originated with VK2ETA

Yes Evan,
?That is what I too observed.
I wonder whether it has some thing to do with Calibration?

Re: atenuator

The attenuator varies from 0-254
If you switch over to the nextion display it becomes a slider on the main screen. Too loud just slide it to the right. Beats digging through the menus.

Re: atenuator

Terry,

Nothing much.

Attenuate 0 should mean the same of it being OFF.
