I see no point in using an eprom. Rpi is a computer running linux. We just open and write to a file on the sd card.

I think it should be renamed default_settings.ini So if it gets garbled, you can copy it back. Frequently, I have changed settings (like turning on the rit) and wondered why the radio was misbehaving.
