Dave, Did you verify that the trace between the two power connections under the header was cut?? If not, then the higher voltage would be sent to the mainboard and that could damage multiple

The TFT displays are almost unreadable in sunlight in a car, so I think that is another reason to go to a 2-line LCD option. The one on my BitX40 is easy to read in the car. You probably can do that
