ubitx troubleshooting help - low power after irf510 replacement
I have a bit too much experience with cooking the finals on my ubitx...I'm on about my fourth or fifth set of IRF510s.? I think that I'm probably overdriving too much on digital modes...but here's

Re: Sunday
I get 7w with a class E NS40 by 4sqrp. Apart from the layout of the board, a real masterpiece, it is amazing that just after key down the final remains that cold (very mild temp). My other twofer qrp

Re: Harmonic performance - SSB vs CW
Those digi modes are done with a set of tones to your radio and use SSB - NOT CW. 73, Bill KU8H -- bark less - wag more

Re: Modular uBitx - "Ex: Harmonics"
W2CTX Interesting thought. We already live with noise from the AVR/Arduino on 16 MHz, 12 MHz, harmonics of these, and mixed products of those. Yes, putting any computing device inside the radio

Re: Modular uBitx - "Ex: Harmonics"
Some people might be concerned about, others may want the RPi so much that they compensate for it. With the suggestion of putting the Si5351 on the mainboard, it would leave options open for the end

Re: Modular uBitx - "Ex: Harmonics"
No one concerned with extra power draw or noise generated by the pi?

Re: Modular uBitx - "Ex: Harmonics"
I was thinking along the same lines. This would open up quite a bit of possibilities with all the extra CPU power. I liked the suggestion from RCBoatGuy that pertains to this: - Si5351 on main board,

Re: Sunday
Dan, No as ubitx for SSB requires a linear amplifier. The AM class E I have for 160 (IRFz24s) does easy 20W carrier 100% modulated its near 80w.? Efficiency is north of 80%.? I've been called

Re: Arduino Hangs
Howard, No problems. Sorry about the troubles. The Adafruit board is a good solution. Soldering an si style chip is beyond my skills and patience to learn how to...hihi 73, John

Re: Harmonics
Kees,? I like your filter board layout.? However, I do have a small suggestion to make:? It might be nice to have the snubber diodes for the relay coils on the board rather than off? board. 73,

Re: Arduino Hangs
John: Yes. I cut the 3.3V pin from the Nano to the PCB and the voltage went down to 3.5, which is a little high but OK. The 3.3V from the Nano is not used anywhere on the Nano, it comes out of the USB

Re: Modular uBitx - "Ex: Harmonics"
One of the Rasbberry Pi versions could probably be added inside a transceiver case running Linux.? That could replace an Arduino and PC as well.?? Arv_-_ Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy

Re: Arduino Hangs
Howard, Good test with the 2nd nano.? Since the si chip gets its 3.3v supply from the nano, did you check that the si chip had the proper supply voltage, just to make sure? 73, John

Re: Harmonics
Every so often the attachments get dropped and #57222 posting suffered that.

Re: Please advise
Build it,? Allow room for possible fixes and don't get too wrapped around the axle. Take it all in steps.? Some I suggest like pop and click are advised.? The mic compression is good just don't

Re: Please advise
Mitchell: The jury is out on the harmonic and spur fixes. I have the parts for my power improvement mod if you want them. I suggest assembling the uBitx as is and trying it out before doing any mods.

Re: Sunday
Jack, I'm getting about 4 watts output with 13.8v the way I have it currently configured. It's driven with a 2n7000 MOSFET. I'm wondering if the uBiTX could benefit from this because it requires lower

I have a new V4 ubitx and have purchased a larger display, new arduino for it and will purchase the vfo board. Is there a place that list required and suggested mods. I am especially concerned about
