Re: an open message to those unhappy with the volume of messages #off_topic
Had to look that one up:? transformer read only storage? Now that's how a real programmer writes his code. None of this sissy IDE stuff. In the rope format,? it was TROS in the Apollo guidance

My father worked at IBM during the days of core storage. I remember touring the Poughkeepsie plant and watching the cores being strung by hand under strong magnifying lenses and bright lights. You

Actually, JackAl has very little to do with my FDIM presentation, which is on homebrewing. The JackAl board will be shown at the Show-and-Tell, which I think is Friday evening. Jack, W8TEE

Might as well publish your "JackAl" FDIM presentation, Jack. We can all "proofread" it for you.? 73 Kees K5BCQ

DuWayne's note was? ?/g/BITX20/message/47837? ? We need a better indexing to find "stuff" with 2000 messages per month.? 73 Kees K5BCQ

Re: SWR
As i recall from memory there are others in that series of MCP3xxx that have dual S&H and maybe 4 channels... and for some reason cheaper than the 3202? Maybe 3204? (Working without datasheets

Re: SWR
Bill, Yes, that's much better ...MCP3202. Thanks !? I figure SPI is coming anyway because the little inexpensive (~$8) 2.8" TFTs are SPI and would make a great readout (and use existing 4 LCD pins

Re: SWR
Possible. SPI interface, so 4 new Nano pins.? ? Could be OK if display goes to SPI. Two channels but only one internal S/H.? However SPI is fast enough to ignore the lag between channels.

Could maybe build a S/H from a 2n7002 and a cap, hard to beat the price. Not sure it would perform very well, depends on the input impedance of your ADC? (or perhaps of some voltage follower you

Re: SWR
One possible alternative for a S/H ADC (12bit, 2 input, 2.5V input, 5V Vcc, etc) is the older ADC12130. Is there a newer and less expensive version out there ? 73 Kees K5BCQ

I spent many hours watching the IBM ladies from New York restringing cores on core memory planes at NASA and punched some new TROS tapes myself. 73 Kees K5BCQ

Re: Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
Concrete is apparently conductive enough. A really good ground can be had by tying into the rebar (steel reinforcement bars) embedded in a basement wall or the footing of a building or a concrete slab
