Yes, and the audio was very weak and poor. Tinny sounding. I took out
the element and replaced it with a electret mic.

Thanks for the input, Farahan.
We use the little 1" OLEDs on the Morse code Trainer with excellent results and they are extraordinarily legible using 4 lines.

Have you seen http://bitxhacks.blogspot.com/2017/10/raduino-as-nbfm-tx.html#comment-form ?
It is not all of what you asked about, though.

Re: BITX-40
Calibration mode is normally only entered when the red wire is connected to ground.
Make sure the red wire does not touch ground.

Re: No PTT
You also have to connect the Common (center pin of the three) of the encoder to the "ground" (earth) on the raduino or it won't work.

Hi John,
Now, I connected the unplugged Raduino to the USB socket of my computer,
and it lit up. Connecting the two encoder wires only, black & brown, has no
effect when the encoder is turned. This

Re: BITX-40
There is an article on the hfsignals page on calibrating the bitx40. It seems like when the red wire goes to ground it goes into calibration mode. Did the red wire touch the chassis or board.

Hi Geoff,
I am at a loss as to what could be the reason for your problem then.
The thing I would do if I was in that situation would be to go bare bone: remove the Raduino from the main board and

Re: BITX-40
Check the voltage on the wire and if it is 5V then bypass with a 0.1 to remove noise or RF
influence and see. Do all soldering with power OFF !
