Re: VK3YE AGC questions, description of how it works? and how to make it more effective?
Hi,
I had to use an RF gain control to tame some strong signals that caused a lot of distortion.

Re: On the subject of fake IRF510
I have had good luck with Tayda parts (not Fets). Shipping is about the same (maybe 1$) less than Mouser. Time is a week to So. Ca.
So Mouser is faster.
Hard to beat Tayda on connector prices,

Re: On the subject of fake IRF510
I've used them a lot, but not for the PA. They have a distribution warehouse in Livingston, CO, so order come fast. Their prices are good and shipping is reasonable.

Re: On the subject of fake IRF510
Something to consider when shopping these deals from Asian suppliers is the amount of time your purchase will take to show up in your mailbox.
Lately I have noticed that it has been taking longer and

Re: VK3YE AGC questions, description of how it works? and how to make it more effective?
No the opposite. It would take relatively more LED (less LDR Resistance) current to lower the volume because you lowered the 3.3K.
The resistors in the first transistor set the gain of the feedback

Re: VK3YE AGC questions, description of how it works? and how to make it more effective?
Nope should have no effect on the circuit the ldr is across the volume
control is in control the more light the lower the Resistance across the
volume control is like turning it down I used a medium

I have a drawer full of them but have never tried them in an RF application.

Re: On the subject of fake IRF510
Does anyone have any past experience with Tayda and IRF510s?
Thanks

Re: VK3YE AGC questions, description of how it works? and how to make it more effective?
So reducing the 3.3k might increase attenuation?
Is there a base resistance that is needed to protect other parts of the circuit?

Re: On the subject of fake IRF510
I waited until I had an order for other parts, then luckily remembered the IRF510. 10 for about $6.50.
My orders to Mouser (my favorite) are usually $60-70. So shipping is still 10 percent.

Re: VK3YE AGC questions, description of how it works? and how to make it more effective?
That's about it in a nutshell the best led to use for the ldr is a super
bright yellow I found to be best I find it a very good circuit to use

Re: VK3YE AGC questions, description of how it works? and how to make it more effective?
Kind of (sort of) an explanation?
The LDR resistor works in conjunction with the 3.3K to lower the signal amplitude into the volume control.
That is the major action!
There has to be resistance up

Re: On the subject of fake IRF510
It seems to me the best option we have at this point is
(a) Somebody buy a buttload of IRF510's from Digikey/Mouser, then
repack/resell to people in the communities in order to spread

Re: VK3YE AGC questions, description of how it works? and how to make it more effective?
I take the signal for my vk3 AGC from 2x 27k ohm resistor's across the LS
connections the center tap I use for audio. That resistor should be 560 ohm
in the base of the 2nd bc548 I use med resistance

VK3YE AGC questions, description of how it works? and how to make it more effective?
I put together a VK3YE AGC, and it works.? It seems to mellow out the audio a bit.? However, loud signals are still getting through.? I think that they are attenuated, but could use a bit more

Re: I7SWX PTT Pop Mute
The circuit closest to the camera is the I7SWX PTT Pop Mute, the circuit to the rear is the VK3YE AGC.
